Jeremy Renner gives a little more insight as to what Hawkeye's "deal" is in the upcoming Avengers film and is asked once again, about the costume.

In part three of a flip cam interview at indiewire.com, Jeremy Renner gives a little bit of information about Hawkeye and The Avengers starting at the 3:29 mark of the video.

And The Avengers?

The Avengers yeah, that's something I'm doing this, I guess late spring or summer.

We just saw Mark Ruffalo..

Aw yeah, he's great, right! yeah, he's so great. I feel so great about my decision when we get guys like that in the movie. Robert Downey, Sam Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, it's like alright.

So which part are you playing?

I play Hawkeye.

So what is his deal?

He's a skilled archer.

Are you?

Nooo! No.

And do you get to wear some kind of costume?

I have no idea. I could be in my underwear, I don't know. I have no idea. That's, seemingly so far away. I've been so focused on Mission Impossible right now that I'm deep in to this movie I'm doing. I can't focus on something else.

Hawksblueyes: I find it odd that after previous statements concerning Hawkeye's famous purple costume, Renner now has no idea if he will don a costume at all for the film.

Nice find HAWKS! :) I'm still hoping for this costume (mainly because it looks realistic but still has a purple 616 influence) with a slightly modified version of the classic mask.

@JoshW, totally agree dude, they should the costume looks like a modern mix of his classic and ultimate costumes (more ultimate, though) and a slight military feel.
The mask needs to be altered slightly, though, I think the bladed eye things would look cheesey in live-action (probably the reason Wolverine hasn't worn his classic costume yet), and no to the cloth hanging from the belt.
And no to the 'H' on his forehead, Captain America's already got an 'A', we don't need a superhero team of alphabet soup running around...

I don't think it's really a scoop about his Costume when his answer is : "I have no idea." That is not a scoop. That is the opposite of a scoop.

Lee have you ever actually read the Ultimates?
and he wore a Trenchcoat for all of 2 pages while he was undercover, and another 10 pages when he was in the snow.

As long as there is A costume of some sort I'll be happy enough. Renner is a great actor, but I agree with Intruder that he really doesn't have the facial features of a Clint Barton. Still, I'm sure he will do a great job.

He definitely has the acting ability and the attitude to play the 616 Hawkeye.

@Hawksblueyes - about his statements concerning the costume: I think he realized the interviewer knew nothing about The Avengers or Hawkeye so he didn't want to waste time on it.

If it ain't the classic purple costume, it ain't Hawkeye. It's just some yahoo with a bow.

Leee: I share that worry that we're going to see the gay ultimate Hawkeye with his lame "1990-style hip" trenchcoat.

The Hawkeye in Earth's Mightiest Heroes is an acceptable compromise of a "new school" backstory with a classic attitude and great-looking costume.

boy gonna be alot of you pissed if they use ultimates with no bow. I have not read ultimates so i cant say other wise if i like it better or not but i do shoot bow, so i can say being realstic i would find it annoying as hell to have any kind of leather coat trench or not on when you would already have some sort of tight fitting costume on. plus i don't think they would simply cause it would hinder his quiver.

the ultimate hawkeye does NOT wear a trench coat as part of his costume, he's only worn a trench coat twice as far as i remember once when he was undercover and the 2nd time when he was in the snow fricking freezing,

the pic WENEEDREVELATION put up is the ultimate costume and you can clearly see he has purple in the costume just toned down thats how the movie costume should be, and LEEE are you colour blind does the ultimate costume the dude put up look black

I just hope he does his research.

I would suggest he reads the early Avengers stuff and maybe watch the cartoon to get an idea about Hawkeye should be portrayed.

Brash, arrogant, and wise cracking.

He should question authority and be supremely confident in his skills.

That's the Hawkeye we all know and love.
