Robert Downey Jr. tells Screen Junkies what Disney distributing Iron Man 3 and The Avengers means to him, if anything.

At a recent press conference for his most recent film Due Date, Robert Downey Jr. was asked how he felt about Disney taking over distribution of Iron Man 3 and The Avengers. He answered of course, in typical RDJ fashion.

"Love it! What’s that mean?”

After a brief explanation Downey added...

“Well, you know what? I really loved our relationship with Paramount, but to me the main thing is I don’t care about any of that. They’re going to make all those movies. I just want to make a great movie.”

He then went on to tell us what he learned from his most recent films co stars...

“Thanks to my tutelage under two guys who know how to play with power, Zach [Galifianakis] and Todd [Phillips], I know exactly what to do with Iron Man 3… That was almost mad with power.

Just what exactly do you suppose he meant by that last statement?

Hawksblueyes: It seems like you can never attempt to guess what direction Downey will go when you ask a question.

1.the mandarin & fin fang foom

2.iron man & captain america team up against hydra or a.i.m.

3.iron man vs the hulk

I finally got chance to watch Iron Man 2 on blu-ray today and loved it. Yes, they could have handled a few things a little better, but it's still a 5* movie IMO. :) Good stuff HAWKS!

Yeah Josh, I love the film also and I agree a couple of things could have been changed but nothing major.

HAWKS: I'd been looking forward to watching it again on blu-ray for months and after all the negative things I've heard said about it on this site since seeing it at the cinema I was expecting not to enjoy it. Instead, I liked it even more! The only fault I really had was the fact that they should have focused more on Black Widow...right now, the character feels paper thin. Other than that, it's just the Tony/Pepper scenes I don't enjoy but that was also the case with the first movie as well!

You know you're right about the Widow Josh but don't you think that may be the way Marvel wants it. Remember she's a spy (of which sort we still don't know) and if they are going to use her to be some sort of double agent it's probably best that we don't know too much about her.

@ leee777

i'm not saying "armour wars" wouldn't be cool,if they decided thats what they wanted to do.

but not all of iron man's foes wear armor,do something different.

Sooner; I think we will have at least references to some other movie or character in every Marvel movie that comes out from now on. Thats what they do with their comics and thats what they claimed they wanted to do with their films when they first started.

@deadpool72 (no disrespect)
Those are exactly the things i want iron man 3 to steer clear from. How are you ever gonna make a decent 2-hour movie out of any of those ideas. Just doesn't work on the big screen. The mandarin... probably but barely.
Teois42
Teois42 - 10/27/2010, 2:39 PM
Mandarin's been confirmed hasn't it?

And I like the fact that they're making all of the villains armor based, I think it works well with the setting and all that.

JoshWilding - 10/27/2010, 2:42 PM
That's a very good point actually HAWKS and I'd not considered the fact that they might go the Ultimate route and make her a double agent! Either way, here's hoping for a little more Black Widow in The Avengers!

let iron man mimic toy story trilogy,
1 was good, 2nd was all right but not amazing, and 3 blows it out of the water,
that redemption trilogy

I wanna see Hulkbuster! doesn't matter if it's IM3 or Avengers, just wanna see the next step in his suits.

The Mandarin is the logical move for IM3.

But I'd like to see a "Armor Wars" type plot.

Maybe combine those two ideas.

Have Stark discover people have "stolen" his tech and it leads him to the Mandarin, who is ultimately behind it all.

It would give them a chance to bring in Ghost, Blizzard, Melter, and others as minor villains who are using stolen Stark tech in their armor/weapons.

Then the final showdown with the Mandarin to end the movie.

"I know exactly what to do with Iron Man 3… That was almost mad with power."

It means, IMO, they go the Spider-Man 3 route. Power drunk storyline. Feeling so invincible that he doesn't care anymore.

Hope it doesn't suck as Spider-Man 3.

How in the heck can you "meh" "Fin Fang Foom"? He's like Godzilla and David Letterman combined.

RDJ...for reals he is a true profession of his trade. He has made so many movies but here are my favs.

1. Natural Born Killers
2. Less than Zero
3. The trailer in the beginning of "Tropic Thunder"
4. Tropic Thunder
5. Both Iron Man movies

"Love it. What's that mean?"

RDJ is awesome. If you like him just being him then watch "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang". That's a severely underrated movie.
