Details from magazine, GameInformer, have been leaked online thanks to UK website CVG. Below are the some of the main points that they managed to get their hands on, all of which shed a lot more light on what to expect from the upcoming video game! For more details, just click the link at the bottom of this article.

- After taking power, Mayor Sharp declares Blackgate and Arkham unfit, and buys off a portion of the slums of Gotham. Walling off the area and calling it "Arkham City".

- Sharp then contracts a mercenary group called Tyger into defending the walls. The prisoners are only given one rule: "Don't try to escape", with the penalty for doing so being death. Beyond that, they can do whatever they want within.

- Hugo Strange heads the new Arkham, though it seems like this fact is cloaked in mystery to the outside world. Those who look into him disappear.

- A year passes. Two-Face is admitted into Arkham City and he realizes he has to make a move to assert himself in the new prison lest he be eaten alive. He captures Catwoman, figuring a public execution should do the trick.

- The Rocksteady team is aiming for a highly detailed city, on the level of what they did in the first game with Arkham itself.

- Gadgets can now be used during fights - the GameInformer article mentions Batman putting explosive el on the back of one of his opponents during a brawl.

- You can now pull off multiple counterattacks at the same time.

- Many of the super villains have formed gangs, and taken control of different portions of the city.

- The team wants to push the "forensics" angle of the first game more, incorporating puzzles in them that will become more complex as the game goes on.

- Most of the key gadgets that were unlocked late in the first game are available by default.

- Interrogations replace the Riddler maps of the first game.

- Batman can now taunt his enemies via a button press.

- Certain characters have optional sidestories within Arkham city (the article mentions Zsasz), that you can dig into.

- Harley has a new costume. From the article: "Instead of a nurse outfit, Harley now wears red and black pants, and a matching midriff-baring top. Her face paint has been scaled back to a much more subtle degree, and she now has a Joker tatoo on one of her hips peeking out over her waistband."

- Batman's been given a new gadget called the "broadcast analyzer". The article mentions several broadcasts Bats can listen in on, like the GCPD dispatch and Gotham FM. The main usage here has Batman tuning in to listen to a message left for him by the Joker.

- Oracle is missing, so Alfred is the one in Bruce's ear (at least at the beginning of the game)

- Rocksteady wouldn't detail their multiplayer plans.

What do you think about all of this new information? Are you looking forward to this game? Share your thoughts in the usual place! Batman: Arkham City is expected to be released in Fall, 2011.

LEE: Thanks bud, and I completely agree. The first game was brilliant (and reading the info in this article makes me want to replay it actually, lol) but this sounds even better! I really dont use my PS3 as much as I used to, mainly because of the not great line-up of games released so far this year, but there's no doubt in my mind that I'll buy this when it's released come 2011! :P I just hate the fact that we have wait that long...

I've honestly never been so excited for a video game. Does ANYONE know when this issue of GameInformer hits stands? I can't wait to see pics of Twoface.

@Ozymandias haha you sound exactly like my best friend he loves video games but mostly buys mature games, it's a huge plus for him when a game is rated M.

Read the magazine article, fully detailed description of their brief demo/playthrough of the beginning of the game. It sounds too good to be true so far. First game was my runner up for Game of the Year just behind Assassin's Creed 2.

Great find Josh! I was actually looking around the internet for new Arkham City info earlier today to no avail. This news was quite satisfying.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 8/10/2010, 5:57 PM
Deadshot: Hmmm...that's a tough one! Perhaps one player could be Batman and the rest could be the "thugs" trying to take him down!? Damn, I'll have to have a proper think about that actually!

deadpool72: Yeah, the wait will be a killer but there's no doubt in my mind that it wont be completely worth it! :)

Roscoe182: Thanks, I'll go check my email ASAP!

OZY: Wow, you're missing out on piles of great games if you only want to buy "M" (I guess that's the same as our "18" rated games?) rated titles! You missed out on an amazing game like Batman: Arkham Asylum because it had no gore/swearing in it? Dear, oh dear. :P

SHHH: I'd love a decent Superman game! Hell, after 10 years of it being on TV I'm just surprised that they've never bothered to make a Smallville one! I'm sure we'll get a game featuring him when the movie is released so maybe they're waiting for that...the first half decent movie tie-in maybe, lol? I guess it's pretty hard to put him in a game setting where he's not too powerful.

Ryguy88: Not a problem! I've not picked up any gaming related magazines for months so I've heard little, to nothing, about this game until I came across this info! Needless to say, I too found it pretty damned satisfying!

@ Chad Vital how did you read the GameInformer article, is it already on stands? If it's not do you have any idea when it might be? Thanks.
