Speaking to Collider/Slashfilm about his new film, David Fincher's The Social Network, Armie Hammer confirms that he was indeed set to play Batman in the long since defunct Justice League movie, and is full of praise for Miller's vision of the super hero team..
Asked if he was originally going to be in the film..
"Your not wrong, your 100% right. I was up for the role of Batman in George Miller's Justice League and it was going to be, in my opinion, one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. The universe that George Miller created and the work he did on that was unlike anything I have ever seen. The way he approached it was like a phycologist. He wanted to show the truth of these characters in a way that I don't think we have seen on film before. Its unfortunate that he never got a chance to show the world what he had, but we all saw it. We saw all the pre viz stuff. He had a room with story board depictions of the entire movie, you could walk around and get the whole movie. He had it all figured out.
Hammer also reveals that he spent time training with Special Forces in Australia for the role. I think the general consensus is that this film would most likely have bombed even if it did get off the blocks but listening to the actors involved you really have to wonder. I know I'm not the only one who would love to get a look at those storyboards anyway.
