BATGIRL Set Photos Reveal A New Look At Leslie Grace Exploring Gotham City As Barbara Gordon

Shooting on Batgirl continues in Glasgow, Scotland, and the latest set photos put the spotlight on Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon. As soon as that red hair was revealed, fans were overjoyed that the HBO Max movie would follow the comic books, and there's no denying the In The Heights star looks like a perfect choice to bring the character to life in the DCEU.

Unfortunately, these images don't provide much in the way of context, though Barbara is clearly exploring the streets of Gotham City incognito after becoming its newest Caped Crusader.

Michael Keaton's Batman is set to appear in Batgirl as well, though it's unclear whether that's just for a flashback showing him saving a young Barbara or as a mentor in the present day. What we do know is that the hero looks set to test her mettle by facing Brendan Fraser's Firefly.

Batgirl marks the first of what looks set to be many feature-length DC Comics adaptations on Warner Bros.' streaming service. Some fans believe a project like this one is deserving of the big screen, but lower budgeted movies focusing on lesser-known characters (to the general audience, at least) mean the DCEU can expand in a big way moving forward.

Batgirl is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and is currently expected to be released on HBO Max this December.

I have zero interest in this even if it’s good, I won’t sully the memory of Keaton’s Batman from my childhood with this senseless direction by WB. Just reboot it or recast but the last thing I want is a makeshift universe cobbled together from others.

@duncboy - you know, whilst I agree this whole desperate attempt my WB to maintain a universe won’t work. It doesn’t actually have any affect on how good previous Keaton films are. 89 and Returns aren't going anywhere or changing if you love them

It looks kind of like they're recreating Burton's Gotham, which I would LOVE to see with modern technology. The art design in the first two is impeccable, but the obvious soundstages and backdrops kind of take you out of the movies. Crazy how much better it looked in the first film; must be because they actually did some location/backlot shooting.
