Wow, I knew studios only get a portion of the box office from China but I didn't know it was that low. Very interesting.

Do the wages of the actors add to the cost of movies?

@Dwise1 - Actors salaries is part of the production budget. But they also have back end deals which are based on a percentage of box office gross. For example Henry Cavill's payday for Man of Steel was $14m. Not bad considering Chris Evans got something like $300k for Captain America the First Avenger. It all depends on the deal. But the back end payments are not part of the production budget. But they are a cost that is deducted over and above prod and marketing costs.

@febday - I never knew that, is that gross of box office? So would Fox for example pay Marvel 5% of Xmen DOFP gross?
