Catfight in Gotham... Who to fill the Female Role?

Catfight in Gotham... Who to fill the Female Role?

With the void left by Rachel Dawes, who will pluck the Batman's heart-strings?

Ladies and gentlemen and fan people alike: it seems with no real NEW news comming up we are left only to curious speculations on characters, plotlines, and themes.

I've been following these threads, message boards, and gossip river rapids for two years now. In those two years, I've seen it all...
Penguins, Cats, Murphy's, Shia's, Batman dying, Nolan not comming back, Joker recasts, calls for a new reboot (are you people serious?) and worst of all Johnny Depps galore. It seems that once people on these sites see something that MIGHT fit (and I use might as loosely as I can), people run with it; they either make up stories about "hearing it from a friend", or take tabloid-tom-foolery as canon. Ridiculous.

I've seen many posts about who will fill the female role left behind by Katie Holmes/Maggie Gyllenhaal tagteam of Rachel Dawes. Alas, I have yet to see any solid or reasonable postulations.

People have said time and again Selina Kyle or Talia Al Ghul; these seem to be the most popular. I'm not sure if they are the most popular because they are villains as well and fill dual roles, or because a majority of The Batman fanbase are not nearly as dedicated as they should be. Sure, I'll say it again... ALOT OF NOOBS TOSSING AROUND THESE TWO NAMES... for lack of better knowledge on other lesser known female characters.

So, as a call to those who actually have good ideas and want to bring a little something more to the table, lets continue this conversation.

I'd vote either Vicky Vale, (only) Selina Kyle, or Jezebel Jet (even though she is a much later character.)

Why does batman even need another love interest? What would it do for the story other than detract from more important plot elements?

Rachel Caspian from Batman: Year Two, since it's still early into him becoming The Dark Knight but two loves interests in a row with the first name Rachel could confuse some people.

Shondra Kinsolving could play a physical therapist since she helped nurse Bruce Wayne after the Comic Book events in Knightfall.

Sasha Bordeaux, a bodyguard hired as another mask for Bruce.

Vesper Fairchild

Silver St. Cloud

IMHO I just don't think Bruce Wayne needs another love interest besides "cover dates" so he has an alibi for his whereabouts when Batman is fighting crime

Nice change of pace though from the villain speculation!

i think he needs SOMEONE, whether it be a love interest like vale or kyle, or a son grayson, but someone to give him hope, otherwise there isnt much plausibility in that he would continue his fight

@deaconblackfire..Thanks! I totally agree that Rachel Caspian was an inspiration for Rachel Dawes. I also agree that Sasha isn't needed at all at this point for Bruce. She could always work for Lucius Fox as his driver or bodyguard since he runs Wayne enterprises and would need protection.
@joekerr93..You make a good point but I think Batman knows that with even all the loss he has encountered and will encounter, that the citizens of Gotham need him. Batman knows that even if he has to work in the shadows after the events of The Dark Knight (The citizens of Gotham will find out that Two-Face was Harvey Dent in this next film) that he will do that if need be. He made a vow to his parents and that will always fuel him to help those in need

"Love Interest" are central to almost every comic book story/movie, pretty much in every movie so it's really unlikely theyd go without some love interest... Batman is already being hunted by the cops I mean why not Catwoman as Batman's love-interest more so a foil who he is intrigued by her antihero complex much like Batman, so he wishes to figure out and find out who she is and maybe have Vicki Vale as a reporter chasing and obsessed with Batman that also is interested or forced to cover the billionaire reclusive playboy Bruce Wayne as a side love interest... As a true villain the most likely scenario that it looks like they are going with is the Riddler who is either working for the cops as strung out criminologist or just some random Zodiac type killer who is consumed with unmasking Batman... Why not a corporate villain with ties to the mob maybe Thomas Elliot(Hush) who is childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's & a wealthy one who could be in it who ambition is to own Gotham and destroy Bruce Wayne and if need be Batman... More likely Black Mask as rising star in the underground Mob organization who is inspired by Batman to wear a mask... The Talia Al Ghul thing makes sense and is an interesting idea not done before in the Batman films, which would probably interest Nolan who can tie into something that happened in the earlier movies... Nolan likes original/unique ideas though more so than following the comics verbatim, which has both good and bad qualities to it...

The Riddler Zodiac thing or even Catwoman scenario could show off his detective skills and having Black Mask could show him just battling threw the corruption of the Mob, which has been a constant theme in all the movies, plus Mob thugs getting their asses beat could help with more action...

Talia makes a lot of sense, the League of Shadows isn't the type of group that disbands after one major attack
No Bane, No Hush, it's too early in Batmans story for these villains to show up

Let's just all trust Nolan and co. and sit back and enjoy the ride

one of the villians that hasn't had an onscreen appearance will be the main villian. black mask is the most likely candidate

@NightBat: Good point with the trusting Nolan part.

DAVID S. GOYER SAID THAT, "HUGO STRANGE, RIDDLER, AND CATWOMAN R ON OUR CHOICES FOR VILLIANS CUS THEY PLAY WELL WITH THE BAT. CATWOMAN CUS SHE'S SEXUAL, RIDDDLER AND HUGO STRANGE CUS THEY GO TO BATS' CONSCIENCE".

WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT BLACK MASK WILL BE IN THIS MOVIE. HARLEY QUINN WON'T CUS IT RELATES TO THE JOKER. HERE'S THE LINK

@BigCheif16..Thank you! As much fun as it is to speculate who the villain/villains might be, it could be FireFly for all we know and if it is then I trust Nolan....
