Below is a quick transcript of the video from MTV News, but to understand his answers in a little better context, it's probably best of you watch it! Needless to say, Oldman drops a fair few interesting hints about the direction that The Dark Knight Rises will take, so be sure to share your thoughts on these in the usual place!

"No, I haven't seen the script yet, I know the story though and its a great story. I mean, you look at The Dark Knight and you think how's he gonna top it? And he has."

"I cant say. I'm sworn to secrecy."

"Yeah, the scope of it and also the way he sort of brings it back to Batman Begins. And really what Christian/Bruce Wayne discovers and learns about himself."

"I mean I hear that it's a good role, but I'll have to wait and see won't I?"

With an all star cast which includes Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Garly Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

I think that would kind of confirm Talia?
Who knows.
Nice find man.

well talia is the obvious answer I guess and some rumours do suggest that but we'll have to wait and see, and man oldman is one under appreciated actor especially in the batman films

@THESPIDERMAN96 I think the story is just an overview or synopsis of the script told to Gary by Nolan.

I think Bane has stepped into the leadership role of the League of Shadows, that was planned for Bruce Wayne.

Thepublicmessages, that vid is messing up the comment format, you will have to stop posting it. Just leave a link in future?

Anyway, certainly sounds like he's confirming The League Of Shadows to me:)

Bane will be brought in as The League of Shadows' vengeful assassin. He'll be what they intended Bruce Wayne to be.

@Gaston agree with you there, In Batman Begins the look of Gotham was awesome, the only thing I didn't like about TDK was the look of Gotham, especially how Wayne tower suddenly transformed from that giant old fashioned skyscraper (very Gotham City looking) to a big glass tower (while most of the interior was the same, meaning somehow the outside of the building changed)...
Oldman's one of my favorite actors at the moment, despite not seeing him in much, you can see how diverse he is just by watching him as Sirius Black in Harry Potter and comparing it to his role as Commissioner Gordon.

I wonder if he meant back to Batman Begins spiritually as in it is a return to Bruce changing while The Dark Knight was a series of challenges for Bruce. I do not see how he was saying that plot elements of Batman Begins come into play.

@AlReg- That's what I was thinking, it's not like he said "plot elements from BB are brought back"

"I see Selina working for Alberto Falcone to steal secrets from corporations such as Wayne Enterprises (how Bruce/Batman and her come into contact). "

Woah, black panther, that made me do a double take. OF COURSE! You want Bruce to interact with Selina in and out of costume, that makes total sense!

I think Robin could be added to this story. Think about it...having robin included would only improve the backstory of Batman begins. I don't think it would hinder it at all.

The relationship of master and pupil would contrast well. Bruce Wayne(In begins)is a young man looking for a reason to fight injustice. You know the rest of the story...Then we have Dick Grayson being taught by Bruce Wayne...Remember the circus accident? Why Robin is robin? "Use a symbol that evokes your own fears onto your opponents."

Think about how much it will connect to begins...along with Talia al ghul.

Ummmm, Talia was confirmed, I believe. Also, Selina Kyle is set up as an ally of Batman, not a villain. Also confirmed.

@ BlackPanther717: that makes total sense...now add Robin in the first few minutes of the film. Have Bruce Wayne attend a charitable event at a circus. Have the mafia and Alberto Falcone(ties from begins) attempt to assassinate Bruce only to end up murdering Dick Grayson's parents. Dick witness everything. Bruce is now "rising" up to take full responsibility of the demons of his past then adopts this young boy...lets say 5 years past and now Dick is Bruce's protege.

Then we have Catwoman,Talia, the league of shadows and Bane enter the picture exactly as you stated in your comment. Think about it Batman is gonna need help that he can trust to take on all these villains lol.

@ JacksonVegaIII: Yeah Robin have been portrayed as a lame sidekick in comics and film. And batman have been portrayed as lame too lmao.

But the relationship that Bruce have with this kid is that he sees himself. And psychologically he understands the path that this kid can take. Rage,revenge,pain...Nolan could pull off robin without being cheese IMO.

Neither Talia, League of Shadows, JGL nor Marion Cotillard have even been mentioned by Nolan or any of the rest of the cast.

Please everyone. Shut up.

u get the story without reading the script by reading the treatment. thats how most films start out. nolan does this too, he writes out the film in a few pages, not going into detail about specifics but focusing on the narrative.

thats prolly what (g)oldman read.

love this guy. him and jeff bridges could do a killer movie.

@Kiddsoul...Robin isn't going to be in TDKR, ever. Nolan said so himself. There will be no references to Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, or any of the rest of the "Robins". I don't mind the fan predictions of what might happen in TDKR, but PLEASE just forget about Robin. He's not necessary to Nolan's or anyone's Batman. He is exactly what he was intended to be, a sidekick tossed in to attracted younger readers/viewers and having Robin in TDKR would take way too much screen time away from the rest of the story.
TheAmarilloBlack
TheAmarilloBlack - 3/8/2011, 3:14 PM
Marion Cotillard for Talia Al'Ghul!

@Knightstalker
Whatever Robin's origins, he's an integral part of the Batman mythos. He's Batman's son(s). For Nolan to completely ignore Robin would be a slap in Bob Kane's face, not to mention every true Batman fan. However he weaves it into his Nolanverse, insignificant, but he's too talented not to reimagine such an important part of Batman's story.

@KIDDSOUL
Spot on scenario, viable and totally achievable.
