Former DC President Diane Nelson Says JOKER Is The Type Of Movie WB Should Have Been Making Since Nolan

After a 22 year reign, a changing of the guard saw DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson leave the company this summer. Now, she's weighed in on what Warner Bros. is doing with Todd Phillips' Joker.

DC Entertainment lost President Diane Nelson earlier this year but now she no longer works for the company, the former executive is able to say whatever she likes (which must be a nice feeling). As you can see below, she recently took to social media to share her thoughts on that camera test for Joaquin Phoenix and said that she believes this is the type of movie Warner Bros. should have been making ever since Christopher Nolan's acclaimed The Dark Knight Trilogy was released between 2005 - 2012.

However, when one aggressive DCEU fanboy claimed that Nelson was a "snake" for making an apparent dig at the work Zack Snyder has done with movies like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, she was quick to point out that she was including his work in that initial Tweet. Do we believe her? It doesn't really matter, especially as it does appear as if Joker will be the same sort of filmmaker-driven release which isn't 100% faithful to the comic books...just like Nolan's movies!

What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Zack Snyder's work is among the things DC should've been doing? He had a vision?

@RageDriver2401 - As much as I deride his films, he did have a vision in place with his films.

It was just a misguided one.

@RageDriver2401 - A Superman who is inspired to use his abilities to help others by his mother when he was in grade school, and devotes his entire life to doing so, challenges a world that stands in his way and becomes its greatest hero. A Batman who is broken by tragedy and loses sight of who he is and what he stands for, but learns to forgive Superman and is inspired to be better than he was, and a Wonder Woman who saw, and was temporarily corrupted by the worst of humanity, but still found a way out of the darkness and resolved to protect humanity and never raise her sword against them. Overall, a vision of hope rising in a world that seems devoid of it.

This is Snyder's vision, and this is what the best superhero stories are based on. It's absolutely something that's essential to DC's success and not something to laugh at. I'm heartbroken that we may never see the rest of it.

@SisterSunday52 - Snyder isn't reading this, you don't need to suck up to him this hard.

@SisterSunday52 - good vision... very poorly executed

@RageDriver2401 - I know he's not reading this, and I'm not sucking up to him. Sucking up to someone means you are propping them up because you expect something from them.

There's nothing HE can give me that I want. I just know quality Comic Book themed work when I see it, even if it happens to be unpopular. I'd be saying the same thing if he completely went off the grid.

But quite honestly, I have some faith in Todd Phillips' Joker. Hopefully this brings back the age of good DC films.

"Even if die hard fans struggle with his vision."

This statement and Todd Phillips involvement (as much as I enjoyed the first Hangover and Due Date, everything else he's done has been sub-par) makes me highly skeptical about this film tbh.

Honestly, yeah, these type of movies could have been made left and right since TDKT ended, whether by WB or other studios. But then The Avengers came out and turned every studio exec's heads for the worst-- and unfortunately in the same year as TDKR.

It was up to them to go one way or the other, and they chose one (or... the other).

@Kurne - The Avengers was a better movie and a bigger hit compared to TDKR though. So it made sense why studio head did what they did.
