As Todd Phillips' Joker sequel continues to round out its supporting cast, the latest addition is up-and-coming actor Jacob Lofland. We don't have a name for his character, but, breaking with tradition, a few details on his role have been provided.

THR reports that Lofland will play "an inmate at the asylum who develops a relationship with Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker."

Our last "unnamed Arkham prisoner" turned out to be Barry Keoghan's take on the Clown Prince of Crime in The Batman, but something tells us Lofland won't be playing an established DC Comics villain.

Lofland made his debut opposite Matthew McConaughey and Tye Sheridan 2013's Mud, and has also appeared in the Maze Runner movies and AMC's The Son.

Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz are set to reprise their respective roles as Arthur Fleck and Sophie Dummond, and we recently learned that Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener have also joined the cast.

"Folie à Deux" loosely translates to "madness for two," a condition that is generally defined as an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family. The title reveal led to speculation that Harley Quinn may be involved, and sure enough, we'd later learn that none other than Lady Gaga had been cast in the role.

Details are few and far between, but the A Star Is Born actress obviously won't be playing the same version of Harley Margot Robbie portrayed in Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad.

The $150 million-budgeted sequel will include "complicated musical sequences - though we recently learned that it'll be "more like A Star Is Born than In the Heights." The comparison could be read a few different ways, but it would seem to suggest that the film won't be a burst-into-song at the drop of a hat type deal, and instead feature a handful of musical performances (we'd bet on them taking place in Arthur's mind).

Joker: Folie à deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. You can check out the announcement teaser below.
