JUSTICE LEAGUE Star J.K. Simmons Hopes To Play Commissioner Gordon In THE BATMAN
While J.K. Simmons didn't get a lot of screen time in Justice League, the Oscar-winning actor says that he would like a chance to play Commissioner Gordon again in a future DC movie. Hit the jump for more!
While there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of the Batman solo movie that Matt Reeves is set to direct, if J.K. Simmons has his way, we might be seeing a familiar face as Commissioner Gordon. In an interview with Collider to promote his upcoming series Counterpart, Simmons talked about his brief role in Justice League and his hopes for returning to the series.
The Oscar-winning actor said that his role in Justice League was originally planned to be small, but it ended up being significantly smaller in the film's theatrical cut since he only worked with Zack Snyder, not Joss Whedon. Simmons said:
"I was barely involved in the movie, period. And then, that even got cut. Because I don’t really pay attention to show business, outside of my own thing, I was unaware of most of that. I didn’t even know until somebody in the press told me about the re-shoots. And I have no idea what to expect, going forward."
Despite this lack of certainty, Simmons says that he hopes to play Jim Gordon again.
"Oh, yeah! Assuming that we’re gonna go forward, the way we think it will, I’m really looking forward to that. Hopefully, it will be really fun and the character will expand a little bit, particularly in the stand-alone Batman movie. There will be more to do. I guess it’s Matt Reeves now for that one, who I haven’t met. So, it will be a whole new collaborator to get together and work with, hopefully."
Since there have been so many changes to the script for The Batman, and with Ben Affleck still unsure about his future with the franchise, it's no surprise that this movie is still in the early stages of development.
