JUSTICE LEAGUE Concept Artist Says Ben Affleck's THE BATMAN Script Was The Best He's Ever Read
Justice League concept artist Jay Oliva has been pretty outspoken about the Snyder Cut and he's now taken to social media to shed some light on what Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns had planned for The Batman!
Allow us to tell you a story. Once upon a time, Ben Affleck was supposed to direct The Batman and he was writing a screenplay alongside comic book scribe Geoff Johns. It's believed that would have focused on the Dark Knight squaring off with Deathstroke in what would have undoubtedly been a hard-hitting, action-packed affair. Unfortunately, Affleck then decided he didn't want to direct it.
Then, Matt Reeves came on board and while it initially looked like he would use Affleck and Johns' script, we then learned that he would be starting from scratch...and that Affleck may not star.
So, it's been quite a saga but Justice League concept artist Jay Oliva - who must have been hired to work on The Batman - has now revealed that the script was amazing and the "best Batman script I've ever read." That's high praise indeed given how beloved Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan's work on the franchise has been and it's just a shame we'll probably never get to see it become a reality...
