THE BATMAN - PART II Rumored Filming Start Date Revealed; Will Hush And Robin Appear?

We may now have a better idea of when cameras are set to begin rolling on Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel, while another source is claiming that both Hugh and Dick Grayson/Robin will appear...

Previous reports have claimed that The Batman - Part II was scheduled to begin filming early next year, but with the recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes impacting pretty much every aspect of film production, it sounds like Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated sequel has been hit with a delay.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the plan is to start shooting The Dark Knight's next big-screen outing in late summer, with casting getting underway from February.

Everyone from the first film (who survived) is expected to return, along with some characters from the Penguin Max series, and Richtman has also heard that two characters that we have previously heard whispers about will indeed be introduced: Dr. Tommy Elliot/Hush and Dick Grayson/Robin.

If you've seen The Batman, you'll likely have noticed that the groundwork is actually laid for the introduction of Hush. At one point, The Riddler exposes some dark secrets, revealing that Thomas Wayne played a part in the death of a journalist named Edward Elliot. While this could just be a coincidence, the word "hush" even flashes up on the screen at one point.

This was probably just a little easter egg for fans at the time, but that doesn't mean Reeves couldn't have decided to go with Hush as the main antagonist of The Batman - Part II since.

Here's what the filmmaker had to say about the character when asked which villains he'd most like to explore in a potential sequel last year.

"There are so many, and, I dunno... I think Hush is a really interesting one to do. I'll say Hush. But that doesn't mean that the next one will be Hush!"

As for Robin, several different sources have now reported that Grayson will debut in the sequel, so we'd say there is likely something to it. Details are few and far between, but we have heard that this latest take on The Boy Wonder will be a teenager (possibly as young as thirteen).

When the new DCU slate was announced, James Gunn confirmed that Reeves' "BatVerse" will remain separate from the DCU, so this movie, along with Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, will be considered "Elseworlds" tales. A new actor will down the cape and cowl for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which will also feature a different take on Robin - The Caped Crusader's son, Damian Wayne.

Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell are all expected to reprise their respective roles, and there are rumors that the sequel will also feature the debut of Clayface (but we don't have much more to go on).

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we know the Penguin spin-off series will set up the story. As far as official info goes, Reeves has stated that his sequel will continue this "epic crime saga," but that's about all we have to go on.

The Batman - Part II is set to release in theaters on October 3, 2025.

Hush would be cool to see a different villain we haven't seen yet.

I'm not including Hush from Batwoman,that was shite.

Let's hope this is BS cuz he basically robbed Hush for his Riddler. If he goes Hush, Reeves' officially has no real idea where to go with the story.

@McMurdo - I don't understand what you mean.

@lazlodaytona - Aside from their family's wealth, The Batman's Riddler has a similar backstory and motivations as Hush. Hell even his costume in the movie is basically Hush's.

Hell, one of the animated movies actually made the Riddler, Hush.

@Himura - thanks for explaining

@Himura - Yeah, I did not like the Riddler at all in The Batman. I mean, I get wanting to use 'super-realism,' dark stuff Reeves was going for. So, he felt the Riddler needed to be the same, except .....
That's NOT the Riddler! Riddler is a charismatic, bright figure which, like other villains, is the complete opposite of Batman.

I feel HUSH IS different from the Riddler. on top of that, we've never seen him on the big screen, so Reeves has the liberty to tweak anything he wants with the character.

Wasn't a fan of the first film at all. However, this HUSH stuff has me a bit excited. Hopefully the Penguin show will help ramp me up.

I want the face under the bandages to be the Ace up Hush's sleeve.

Hush commits a bare-faced murder in the third act of The Batman Part II, framing Bruce. Dr Hugo Strange develops a profile based on the psychological history of the Arkham family and the Wayne tragedy. Bruce is then imprisoned in Arkham under the supervision of Strange.

@Repian - goddamn that would be an epic and wild way to give that an Empire Strikes Back type ending.

I'm intrigued by the Penguin series. Gotham, a show many didn't like and rightfully so, was supposed to be a dark, atmospheric show set in the grit and trash of Gotham. Of course, the producers chickened out after 4 or 5 episodes and ended up turning the show into a goof-ball circus. All the villains who acted just weird, no Batman.
I truly hope the Penguin series has that dark grit of Gotham and is as violent as possible.

The Batman II. Wasn't a big fan of the first one. It wasn't bad, just felt bland to me. However....
Having HUSH in it, and if they handle Robin's introduction appropriately for this universe (seeing the death of his parents on screen is a must. They could make it brutal), then my interest is Piqued. I'll keep hope.

For all you saying Riddler was basically Hush - please open your minds to the ability of story telling.

I’m salivating at the mouth at the idea of seeing Robert Pattinson playing Batman, and both Hush. What a ballsy move this would be.

I feel it’s Hush and Clayface combined.
