We're still hoping a new trailer for The Batman is released before 2021 comes to a close, but with The Matrix Resurrections is in theatres, it might be best to temper expectations. On the plus side, there is a lovely piece of comic accurate imagery to be found in this newly revealed still (courtesy of Empire Online).
As you can see, Robert Pattinson's Caped Crusader is meeting with Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle/Catwoman on what appears to be a Gotham City rooftop. It's a great shot of the characters and a moment we hope leads to an in-depth exploration of the dynamic and relationship Bruce Wayne and Selina share.
In related news, The Batman star Colin Farrell has shed some light on his physical transformation into The Penguin for this movie. "Matt had seen the character as classically somewhat portly, rotund, whatever the word," the actor tells the site. "I’d just finished The North Water, which I’d put on weight for, and Matt said, ‘You look great!’ I thought, ‘Well, [frick]in’ say goodbye to it because I’m about to hit the treadmill. I need to get my health back.’"
"So we explored other means of creating the physical character," Farrell continued. "I walked around the studio and then the voice work I had done with Jessica Drake, the dialect coach, started coming out and Oz just came alive. It was extraordinary.”
It's certainly going to be interesting to see what the actor brings to this role, and it's easy to imagine him stealing the show. We'll find out when The Batman is released in theaters on March 4, 2022.
