Once upon a time, it looked like Jeffrey Dean Morgan would suit up as Batman in a Flashpoint movie, but as creative teams changed, plans for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star to return as Thomas Wayne fell by the wayside. Now, it seems like Michael Keaton's Caped Crusader from 1989's Batman will take on the role Morgan was once destined to fill.
The Walking Dead star is frequently asked about potentially playing Batman, and when CinePop caught up with Morgan, he opened up about what it's been like to be attached to that role.
"At the top of my list has always been Batman, that’s always been my favorite superhero. And talking about Flashpoint has been very fun, I get asked about it a lot," he said. "I love the story of Flashpoint Batman. Who knows? Who knows with DC? Who knows with how these franchises work? I suppose I probably have like another two, three-year window, and then I’m gonna be too old."
"There’s no way. So, look, I’m available. Everybody knows I’m available. I say I’m available, I’ve been saying it for five years. We’ll see what happens. There’s so many superheroes."
Morgan went on to talk about wanting to play Lobo, noting that "I have something maybe cooking, and I’ll let you know soon if that turns out to be" in regards to a superhero movie role. It would be a great shame if Andy Muschietti doesn't find a way to include the "Flashpoint Batman" in his version of The Flash, but as the actor makes clear, time is running out on that front.
A role in the Marvel or DC Universe seems inevitable, though, so fingers crossed it happens soon!
