Which Robin's Suit Hangs in The BatCave?

Just something I've been thinking about and figured I would get everyone else opinions on now that we have a little more information and the BvS trailer has been released.

Ever since fans learned that the Bruce Wayne we would be meeting in Batman v. Superman would be an older, grizzled, and semi-retired man people have been stuck think just how far into his career as Batman he had gotten, and if the famous Death in the Family storyline would have already taken place in this universe.

Today we got our first glimpse at the classic "Robin Shrine" typically devoted to Jason Todd, who was killed at the hands of the Joker and later revived (reality breaking punch/Lazarus Pit) as [The] Red Hood. Many fans were quick to comment "Jason Todd", "Red Hood!", but I myself am unsure...and here's why:

About 4 months ago the following set photo leaked featuring the grave of Richard John Grayson, or Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing (the 1st Robin). From what I can make out the grave says that Grayson lived from 1982-2000 making him 18 years of age upon his death, a rather fitting age for a real world Robin...

Now we also know that Batman v. Superman draws heavily from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, a story in which the only Robin's who existed were Dick Grayson, Jason Todd (who died in the line of duty) and Carrie Kelly - who is rumored to appear. In Miller's run Dick Grayson served Batman for some time (in All Star Batman and Robin) and, "years afterwards, Dick was known to have been fired by Batman in disgrace for gross incompetence. He went through an experimental procedure that made him nigh immortal through cellular regeneration, and he was actually driven insane. He became the second Joker after the original one, and murdered several retired superheroes, including the Creeper and the Guardian. After attempting to kill Catgirl, Batman finally killed him by throwing him into lava and extinguishing all of his cells simultaneously." And Todd was never actually shown but killed off-screen in the line of duty.

While I doubt that this is the route the DC Extended Universe plans to take, I certainly see them contuniung to draw this inspiration from the Miller-verse. Batman's timeline is confusing enough as it is, and introducing 1, 2, 3, even 4 past Robin's would be even more confusing. That, coupled with the fact that Grayson is set to star in TNT's Titans/Blackbirds leads me to believe DC simply shifte the charcter to the side in a creative way so that only one of their multiple universes uses said character, much like they have done Deadshot, Deathstroke, Harley Quinn, etc...

Where this conjecture - which is COMPLETELY RANDOM, I'll admit that - falls short is when compared to other set photos we see the grave above is located to the right of the Wayne Tomb.

Which in itself doesn't create issue, BUT today we saw what seems to be a shot of the Wayne's (Thomas and Martha) being carried into their tomb years before Bruce became Batman, and therefore years before Grayson became Robin...and yet the same gravestone is still standing...could this be a minor editing goof? beats me!

But hey! This is just me literally spittballing a random idea, so leave your [kind] thoughts below :D.

It really would suck if Grayson was dead

I want to see Nightwing

@DrKinsolving I think that's their thing though:

DC - "Don't like that you can't see Nightwing in the DCCU? ... watch Blackbirds on TNT!"

Hahaha, I hope not

It's Jason's suit. For one, that Grave is already there, so it was probably just an easter egg by the production team.

For two, do you really think Batman, who holds Robin's death as his greatest failure, will let Robin's grave become over grown and weedy.?
TheRockmore
TheRockmore - 7/11/2015, 2:27 PM
@gamecreatorjj Easily possible, because what your suggesting is that Jason Todd would be the first Robin...? If I'm interpreting that correctly...and that Dick Grayson wasn't a Robin at all?

Because if he was a Robin...his grave is certainly being grown over..

But also...I'm sure that graveyard is the Wayne's personal graveyard...everyone buried there is his family and clearly some of those graves are more covered than Dick's...so I think he just needs to hire a new lawn mowing company for Wayne Manor

@Arrowverse Jason Todd was mentioned in Dark Knight Returns. He is dead when the story takes place (even though TDKR was published before "A Death in the Family"). Bruce says to Alfred: "Jason was a good soldier. He honored me. But the war goes on."

But yeah, seeing the upcoming Blackbirds series and how studios are afraid to confuse non-nerd audience by such things as multiple Robins, I think that Joker probably murdered Dick Grayson.

@Arrowverse I am saying Dick Grayson is alive, was Robin, became Nightwing or a Spyral Agent. Jason Todd was Robin #2 and is dead, hence the memorial suit.

I doubt that grave is meant to be anything more than a production designer having a giggle.

I really have to hope that this isn't real, Dick needs to finally be given justice and this wouldn't do it. I personally hope someone is good with a computer and added that. Another idea is maybe I'm wrong, but I could easily see Zack changing the canon up a little bit and make it so the Wayne's were good friends with the Grayson's. If he does this it would make it easier for Bruce to get custody of Dick. Maybe Dick is named after his grandfather or something. I think it's about time Nightwing is shown and using the blue suit.

@Arrowverse

Is there any chance you can update your Arrowverse website? Because not everyone uses Facebook and it would be nice to leave some comments every once in a while.

I think this is your Facebook one, facebook.com/the.arrowverse and if it's not you sorry about that.

Brace yourself boys and girls, but could Snyder have decided that there will only be one Robin in the past, as in Dick Grayson and Joker killed him? No Nightwing, no Jason Todd and no Tim Drake.

Would Snyder really do such a thing and then move on into territory where we possibly have Carrie Kelly in the role as only the second Robin?

The costume looks like the Rocksteady ones which is not a bad thing at all.

All I know is I still think Ezra Miller is playing Jason Todd, resurrected or in flashback.

That grave does not say 82. It says 92 or 52. Neither makes sense.

It's a dumb easter egg. Dick is alive, Todd is dead as a doorknob.

@TheGustache

The third number is covered by a plant...so no..it doesn't say "92 or 52" it says either 1902,1912,1922,1932,1942,1952,1962,1972,1982,1992

There is literally 0 ways you could have figured out what the number was for sure...also 5 and 9 look nothing alike...like at all

There is a very simple way I looked at that and 5 or 9, I zoomed in, and LOOKED AT IT. To me, It looks like a 5 or 9.

And yes 5 and 9 look alike. Add one damn line to a five and it looks like a sharp nine.

Look man, I dont wanna argue over freaking numbers, but you act like what you're saying is fact. And it's not.

i personally dont even think that pic of DG's tombstone is even real...why are people so certain that picture is legitimate? like what about it doesnt make you question if its fan-made or not

I'm not sure how much this will pertain to this universe, but I thought it was interesting that the Robin suit is holding a staff of some sort. The only Robin that is known for using a staff is Tim Drake.

Another thing you might want to point out is that in the comics, Dick Grayson is born on March 28th, while the birth date on the headstone is in January.
