BATMAN v SUPERMAN Director Zack Snyder Claims The "Real" Doomsday Is Still Out There Somewhere

Well, this is unexpected! According to Zack Snyder, the Doomsday we saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn't the real deal and the actual Doomsday is still out there somewhere in the DCEU...

As cool as it was to see Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman go to war with Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, many fans were left feeling dissatisfied with how the monstrous villain was portrayed. After all, he didn't look much like his comic book counterpart (that was the main issue) and his creation, while somewhat similar to the comic books, was a little strange all things considered.

Well, in
news which may or may not excite you, Zack Snyder has told a fan on Vero that the "real" Doomsday is still out there somewhere. Batman v Superman hinted that a previous version had been created back on Krypton and that Lex Luthor's abomination would be the first since that sort of experimentation was outlawed. The question is, are we ever going to see this monster in the DCEU?

Probably not. Warner Bros. has already
adapted the "Death of Superman" and it seems unlikely that's a well they'll choose to return to. Even if Snyder envisioned another Doomsday being out there somewhere when he made Batman v Superman, it's still frustrating that we didn't get an accurate version because it would have been so much cooler to see that in action rather than, well, a cave troll!

@chewie - because BvS is such a masterpiece that it’s still being debated. (lol)
Mostly by this one guy who sees all superhero movies as being set in the world of Watchmen.

Whoop-de-freakin-do. You already had a Doomsday come and kill Superman so you can’t ever do that again in this continuity. Doomsday isn’t like Lex Luthor or a Loki where it can be interesting to see all the various different plots hatched. Doomsday ia a force of nature good for one great storyline that has already been rushed, ruined and wasted.

@TheUnworthyThor - Damage control from Snyder.

@Poochie - That's ridiculous. This isn't damage control. The guy got fired. He's already gone. And he only re-stated something that very clearly was in the film.

@TheUnworthyThor - man if fake doomsday managed to kill Superman, what's the real Doomsday going to do?

Zack's realizing he jumped the gun on a watered down "Death of Superman" film that this Superman didn't even earn yet.

Telling people there's a better version of a character you gave us seems kind of pointless. We got the Zod/Luthor turtle hybrid. As of right now that's the only real Doomsday.

Now if there's a REAL Justice League out there, then maybe you'll have my attention.

It should have been bizarro in BvS

"Zack Snyder, how many of the unnecessary 'clarifications' that you clearly thought off after the film are we gonna get in your attempt to do damage control for a film that came out two years ago?"

@BlindWedjat - Damn fool Snyder is STILL rewriting his sh*tty movie. When will he realize that no matter how much he spins it, it doesn't change that the movie on film will always be a screwed up mess. I don't get it. It's not like its the first bad movie he's ever made - why can't he move on from this one? If he would have spent this much effort on making the movie, he wouldn't have to spend so much time spinning what he meant to do.

I agree that retroactively placating audiences by saying another version of a character people were displeased with may still be out there is tiresome but I don't remember many people ragging on Marvel for that reactionary and chickenshit Hail To The King One-Shot.

@FromACertainPOV -
For one, both Iron Man 3 and the one shot were good.

For two, when people say that Zack wasted Doomsday, they mean The Death of Superman - meaning that "the real Doomsday" still being out there is totally meaningless.

@FromACertainPOV - Maybe because Trevor Slattery was a unique character in his own right, and the potential existence of a #RealMandarin only adds more layers to the world?

That versus two similar ugly monsters devoid of any personality, who only really have one purpose... which the first one already fulfilled.

@Nebula - I agree. I adore Iron Man 3, it’s one of my favourite films in the MCU and while the One-Shot was well made, it was such creatively asinine damage control.

Saying that a more comic accurate version of the character is still out there after reinventing him for RDJ's last film isn't far off from this because people aren't going to get him. As if Marvel would re tread similar ground for a future cinematic outing, confusing general audiences. Which makes that reveal pretty meaningless too.

When people raged (and still rage) against the Mandarin in IM3, they did so because they now won’t get to see RDJ’s Iron Man face off against a magic Mandarin. Which they never will.

It's just strange that a director who is no longer a part of that universe giving his thoughts on what exists or doesn't in a continuity that we'll no longer see draws more ire than an actual short film that is liable not to build or resolve to anything but makes people think it will.

@Nebula - It's just odd to me that a more proactive placation doesn't bring as much scorn as an off hand one that won't possibly affect anything going forward anyway.
