BATMAN V SUPERMAN Director Zack Snyder Shares An Awesome New Photo Of The Movie's Armored Dark Knight

To mark this past Saturday's "Batman Day," filmmaker Zack Snyder took to Vero to share a never before seen photo of Ben Affleck's Armoured Dark Knight from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Check it out!

Saturday was "Batman Day" and, if we're being honest, it was a tad uneventful. With The Batman 2 still in the writing stages and those HBO Max spinoffs a long way off, there wasn't much for Warner Bros. Discovery to share. Even the highly anticipated Batman: Caped Crusader animated series is currently being shopped around to other streamers!

2023 looks set to be a better year for the iconic DC Comics superhero, though, as we'll see both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton don the cape and cowl in various projects (The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, for starters).

One person who did make sure to celebrate Batman Day was Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League director Zack Snyder. Taking to Vero, the filmmaker shared a never before seen photo of Ben Affleck suited up in the armour inspired by Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns

We're guessing this was a costume test, though that definitely appears to be Affleck in the costume.

There was a time the actor was going to direct his own version of The Batman, a movie that was set to pit Bruce Wayne against Deathstroke. Unfortunately, it seemed as if he grew disillusioned with the role before Snyder enlisted him to return in the Snyder Cut of Justice League and Warner Bros. asked him to reprise the role for The Flash.

While the latter was once expected to serve as a farewell for his Batman, the fact he agreed to take part in reshoots for the Aquaman sequel has suggested he might plan to stick around. Unfortunately, no one seems to know whether the plan is to move forward with a Crisis on Infinite Earths event, particularly in the wake of those Ezra Miller controversies.

@SanFranLand - I guess he’s friends with the owner of the platform so he agreed to have it be his main thing to promote it for them

So beautiful. Despite a few characteristic choices for Batman, Snyder gave us the perfect casting for Batman. Wouldn't even be mad if they still followed his Batman soli flick. The story sounded really interesting.

Always bugged me how they left his mouth out in the open like that (even in the original Dark Knight Returns comic as well tbh), like you think this version of Superman is a violent murderer yet you don't mind exposing half your face to him? (although you could probably make this comment about Batman in general lol).

Would've been cool if his armour had an Optimus Prime-style faceplate on it imo.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Yeah. No ever tries to shoot Batman in the face lol. But he has a big symbol on his chest to draw fire! That might have worked when he first hit the streets, but as soon as bad guys realized he's a dude in a bullet proof suit they would all go for the mouth.

@CorndogBurglar - This has been an issue for me since I first saw Batman. Having his lower face exposed is an invitation to every criminal in Gotham to open fire on him. Just one bullet would leave him jawless or worse. I have trouble suspending my disbelief when Bats gets punched in the [frick]ing face constantly but never shot. Come on!

If only there was substance to go with that flash

@dracula - reading your comment made me disappointed in myself - how has all this time gone on and I've never done any sort of pun on Ezra being a flash in the pan?

I need to be better.

With the exception of the Justice League one (which is fine) I always really liked his Batsuits. They felt like a mix of Frank Miller and BTAS. Ben is still my favorite Batman at this point, although I do have some criticisms of the characterization. I don’t mind things like the warehouse scene where he turns grenades or whatever back on criminals, or even shooting KG Beast to save someone. What went over the line for me was shooting people from the armored cockpit of the Batmobile or Batwing. If they had left that out that would have been pretty close to my ideal Batman

This dude will milk this movie until the end of time. Even for the people that liked this movie, are you excited when he releases content from a 7+ year old movie? We need to move on.

One of the coolest practical suits to ever be put on film in my opinion.

So much potential. They had Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman (though they didn't need her for that movie).
They had the gold standard in comic book heroes.

1) They didn't develop their stories separately and rushed into the Batman v Superman story.

2) Superman was far too grim to pay a counterpoint to the grim Batman.

3) The writing was horrible.

4) The plot device to turn them against each other carried no weight since a) They weren't friends or allies first, b) It never made us care why they were fighting.

5) Their fight was incredibly too short and very anticlimactic.

6) The resolute between the two was ham handed.

7) They ruined Doomsday and the Death of Superman in the same movie.

Horrible

I hated BvS but Snyder did a great job translating that Dark Knight Rises armor to live action. It looks fantastic.

Zack and his 200 lbs of heavy armor that Bats can move around like its foam with no external power source (ala arc reactor)... gotta love it... and this was considered 'great' by fans.
