Comic Book Artist Neal Adams Reveals His Thoughts On BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Whether you loved or hated Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's always interesting to know if others share your opinion. Well, love it or hate it, you're going to want to know what Neal Adams thought.

It's always interesting to read or hear what well-known people in the comic book world have to say about some the more recent event films that have been released. Writer/artist Neal Adams had a few things to say about Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice during an interview on the Audibly Exquisite podcast, and they weren't all that good.

"You really want to ask me that? Okay alright, I'll tell ya. I have held out such hope for that movie, because they tried to fix something of the last one, where you sit, everybody criticizes, uh, Superman practically destroys Metropolis fighting these Kryptonians when he could've taken them to the Sahara desert or to the moon or somewhere where you're not killing people, and so they're sitting there and basically saying okay, now Bruce Wayne Batman is blaming Superman for doing that, and so he wants to control him and to undo him. Unfortunately at the end, if we track the movie, he ends up killing him, duh! I mean it, is that the point we want to receive at the end. Now we know he's not dead, but the point is that if he challenged Superman and he's going to kill him, he kills him. It's just he uses some other weapon, ya know." I'm pretty sure Batman didn't kill Superman in Dawn of Justice.

Adams then went on to highlight the portions of the film he thought were good. "So what has happened that's good about the move? Well, they tried to fix the previous movie. Mmmmm they didn't exactly. They tried to do Frank Miller's Batman and they sort of did it, except it's not 20 or 30 years int the future, which is the only way you can do that movie. They brought it in the past so the first thing you see is Bruce Wayne with Gray in his temples. First thing, you don't want to see Bruce Wayne with gray in his temples. I can have gray in my temples cuz I've earned it, but he is supposed to be 29 years old. so suddenly we don't know how old he is. Suddenly we don't know where this is taking place in the history. Suddenly we're, by solving this problem you make more problems. Now the convoluted problems that are made start affecting your plot. Now you start asking questions like oh, who's the villain at the end (Doomsday), yeah, you throw in Doomsday and you go whoa whoa wait a second, can't we have Doomsday have his own film? We just lost that film."

It's safe to say that Adams didn't like the approach Snyder took with Doomsday, but the artist didn't stop there. He then revealed his thoughts on Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. "Then we have Wonder Woman, who apparently can't do anything," said Adams. "I mean she doesn't do anything in the movie, she just looks good, ya know, but, and she does look very nice, those close-ups are fantastic, and she poses well, but she's got a lasso that I understand its latest power is to be able to control people, like she throws around somebody and they not only have to tell the truth but she controls them. Should've been the end of the movie. Wasn't, wasn't, so she was useless so why was she there? So now I'm given a teaser for a Wonder Woman movie that I want to see, I want all this to happen, but I can't understand why they keep on throwing it in in the wrong way, and so I'm not going to get it."

Do you agree with Neal Adams' opinion on Batman v Superman?

@CinemaHero - All DC Fans please do not visit this site, this website is Anti DC and only Marvel Troll Fanboys visit this site. Dont bother waisting your breath or lowering yourself to the trash that these Marvel Troll Fanboys are. As far as Neal Adams goes the man did great things for DC once, but now his just a grumpy old man and who attends Cons charing people $20 for autographs. Which current artisr does that? None. If u did great things in the past thrn graceful retire and leave. Making comments like this shows neals class, values and his true royality to dc. So im glad a has been like this who has no idea whats realitivr and cuurent made comments like this. Shows how disconnected he really is. You only attack what you fear, this is now clear with these Marvel troll fanboys, otherwuse why care, why go out of your way to make comments like this . Deuces

@stameco - Uh...is this directed at me, or is it just a general declaration?

Either way, gross overgeneralization there. The whole "Marvel vs. DC" feud is stupid to begin with, and insulting people isn't going to change anything or make things any better. There's no need to berate other people for having different interests.

Same goes for Neal Adams. He can like or dislike whatever the crap he wants to as far as I'm concerned. He voiced his own critiques, and doesn't deserve to be sidelined just because he didn't think it was "the greatest thing ever."

There's a huge, huge difference between enjoying a brand, and being so blindly fanatical about it that anyone who dares utter any criticism must be "completely wrong", or "paid off", or "just a stupid, fanboy troll!"

Come on now...

Some of his points made sense, but then his complaint on the confusion of Bruce's age made no sense.

For the record, I find myself agreeing with most of his points. (The coherent ones at least...)

Dawn of Justice usually looked very nice, and I mostly liked its aesthetic...but that's about it. I agree with him on the points that they wasted TDKR elements, they wasted the Death of Superman arc, and fumbled what could have been great story moments.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they would want to launch a new franchise with an old, nearing the end of his prime, Batman. ('Cause, you know, that's exactly what DKR Batman is.)

There are SO MANY creative decisions that were made for this film that still baffle me... I don't even want to get started... -_-

You know, it's funny.
At this point, I think I might be more upset over all the potential the film didn't live up too, than the actual problems in the film itself.

@OnePunchBaldy - This is a new level of retard trashing the movie.:
• “He(Batman) kills him (Superman). “ Eh no, it was lex.
• “you don't want to see Bruce Wayne with gray in his temples”…Why?? So Frank Miller is also trash?
• “he is supposed to be 29 years old.” Eeee no, more like almost 50.
• “suddenly we don't know where this is taking place in the history” Its says exactly where, Man of Steels third act.
Im not a DC fan boy, I love both and hoped that this would be a better movie, but this is straight up retarded, he didn’t get anything of the movie.
Wtf is this?
