SPOILERS: Here's Why BATMAN And SUPERMAN End Up Fighting In DAWN OF JUSTICE

Based on the title and that Comic-Con teaser trailer, it's hardly a surprise to say that Batman will fight Superman in the 2016 movie. Well, a new report seemingly reveals what leads to the heroes coming to blows and the surprise reveal behind why the Man of Steel heads to Gotham City...

We're exactly one year away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it appears as if all we're getting to make the occassion is a first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor (a pretty cool reveal). However, Badass Digest have spoilers which may shed some light on how the fight between these two iconic DC Comics superheroes ends up playing out on the big screen.

Batman v Superman is inspired - not based on - The Dark Knight Returns, but this version of the Man of Steel won't be some sort of government lackey. In fact, as was evident at the conclusion of his 2013 movie, Superman still isn't trusted by politicians and the military. Instead, it will be Lex Luthor who sends the hero to Gotham City to take down The Dark Knight! Why would he do that?

Well, the site aren't saying, but do reveal that "it is Superman who goes to Gotham and starts the confrontation… at the behest of Lex Luthor. And unlike The Dark Knight Returns, Superman comes out swinging, pulverizing the Batmobile with one punch. Why would Superman do Lex Luthor’s bidding? What is Lex hoping to accomplish? That would be spoiling. But know that when the fight is over, Batman will be able to point to Superman and say, "He started it!" That sounds like an interesting dynamic between the two heroes, and it could be that Lex paints himself as a good guy to Superman in a bid to manipulate him for nefarious means. The Caped Crusader obviously takes his revenge a little later on in Batman v Superman with that armoured batsuit...

Okay, since this is the article that will probably survive the purge, I'll re-state:

I don't like the idea of Supes getting manipulated by Lex like that. It's a really difficult, fine line they have to walk here - Lex has to look like a formidable threat (more mentally than physically, obviously), but they also have to make sure the heroes don't look like naive idiots too.

The conflict between Superman and Batman should come from their fundamental, ideological differences, and hopefully the movie plays up that aspect. Having outside forces (even Lex Luthor) affect their fight can't help but feel like a cop-out.

This seems like bullshit.

Lex tells Superman to find Batman.
Superman finds Batman and fights him.
Batman loses and says "he started it!"

It doesn't make sense really.

We really can't judge these rumors yet considering Faraci's article goes into zero detail, and we just have the skeleton of the conflict. I'm not giving it an opinion yet.

If this is true, I don't like it....

Especially the relationship with Lex.

Totally agree with @SauronsBane well said

How does Lex manipulating Clark seems like a cop-out? Sounds totally logical to me.

I'm just gonna say this, all these rumors have been complete bullshit unless they are 100% obvious like Doomsday or Metallo being in this film.

You can't trust Faraci or Eh Maybe or anyone with this film. Nobody knows anything and they are too thirsty for news that they'll listen to fan fic.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of them scooped tomorrow Lex is in prison simply thanks to the photo when that hasn't come out of anywhere before the photo.

I'll give Eh Maybe a little more credit for once since he has been posted Suicide Squad news lately so it's not that far of a stretch.

@TheCardist All this stuff is coming out today because today's the one-year marker for when the movie comes out. Both sources (actually, all 3 if you want to include Snyder himself) explicitly stated that, too. Hardly a coincidence.

This sounds really bad, In my opinion.

The ideal first meeting wouldn't be a confrontation at all. Clark Kent is sent to report on the rivalry match up of Gotham City University vs Metropolis State University but he's more interested in the legend, the myth, Batman himself. However, Batman has been M.I.A. since the events of Zod's invasion. When Lois and Clark spot Bruce Wayne at the game, they interview him and question him on the crime of Gotham including the new gang of (Mutants?). Bruce sees grit in this journalist and "uses" him to gain new info on this gang... Both discovering new mysterious things. What would follow... Cue The Dark Knight Returns homage as Batman as he scours the city to eradicate this gang. With help even from Jena Malone who I'm guessing is an inspired Carrie Kelly.

An unbeknownst coincidence, Superman charges the same night towards the gang and a very special dynamic is fused as this short team-up commences. What should be totally obvious is Batman's apprehensiveness and Superman's charismatic nature-alluding to a much more experienced hero dealing with these types of petty criminals. The good guys win. No fight between the two, mostly tension caused by Batman. "Leave... This is my city. We don't need more like you...", before disappearing into the night. We see a more sly attitude in Batman, and a sneaky one like none before. He returns to the batcave and we learn that a tracker was put onto Superman and he learns of the duo identity. It is then Batman who follows Superman into Metropolis, and ultimately a chaotic world of distress... Eh. I'm trying not to delve into my own ideas too much, and I'm not exclaiming mine to be great-or better than the filmmakers. But can you guys see the opportunity this has?

I think Batman and Superman being manipulated into confronting each makes the most sense. Especially when there isn't a previous reference for their relationship in this cinematic universe. Everything else will just come off as contrived conflict for the purpose of fanservice.

It's not so much the news LR or Badass post (I do love FIlmCritHulk over at Badass), it's how ignorant guys like EH Maybe and especially Faraci are especially Faraci bc he will hate on anything DC does. From WW having a New 52 origin to actually saying Jared Leto is a terrible actor. Eh Maybe's the same way. Hell he was confident in the BvS trailer release date but went back and deleted the tweet not owning up to getting it wrong.

For everyone who was concerned last night re. his Instagram post, it seems that Tyrese hasn't landed the John Stewart role, but he's just still campaigning for it.

Not article worthy but a relieving tid-bit nonetheless.

Both Faraci and El Mayimbe are two human beings that I would NEVER want to hang out with or even interact with in any meaningful way.

That said, their scoop game is usually right on point. We can quibble about the exact percentages, but they both get far more right than they get wrong. And they're both genuine fans. The hate both get is so overblown.

Film Crit Hulk is an absolute joy, though. I've learned so much about so many things from reading his stuff.
