Black Adam has been billed as the movie that will usher in a new era of DCEU storytelling, but early reviews suggest fans can expect more of the same from this franchise.
You can check those out here, but the movie now has a Rotten Tomatoes score and...it's not great.
Since the Tweet below was sent out, Black Adam's Rotten Tomatoes score has risen to 54% with 63 reviews. However, it's still at least six percentage points away from being deemed "Fresh" and a long way from that all-important "Certified Fresh" status at 75%.
This could be one of those comic book movies where reviews don't matter, but if word of mouth is poor, then we can likely expect a massive decline during Black Adam's second weekend. That's where the DC Comics adaptation could run into trouble as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's record-breaking opening didn't save it from ultimately being deemed a disappointment.
Warner Bros. has started sharing TV spots with pull quotes from fans, while the studio has also enlisted fanboys on social media to attend early screenings and interview the cast in an effort to increase some buzz online.
Throw in the fact that the movie's biggest surprise has been deliberately spoiled to drum up excitement, and we're sure it won't be too long before The Rock is taking to Twitter to reiterate that Black Adam was "made for the fans" and not critics.
Only time will tell how much these reviews matter, but we're sure there will be a lot of disappointment if plans for a crossover with Shazam and Superman are derailed in any way.
Will you be heading to theaters to watch Black Adam this weekend?
