BLACK PANTHER 2: No, Singer And OCEAN'S EIGHT Star Rihanna Hasn't Signed On For The Marvel Studios Sequel

Earlier this week, a rumour started going viral on social media that pop megastar and Ocean's Eight and Battleship actress Rihanna had signed up for Black Panther 2. However, it's now been debunked.

This one actually passed us by, but yesterday, a rumour started doing the rounds which claimed that singer Rihanna had joined the cast of Black Panther 2. It appears that it stemmed from a listing on Google that then went viral on social media, and it's not hard to see why it took off when the Ocean's Eight and Battleship star has such a devoted following online.

Rihanna hasn't exactly scored rave reviews for her work as an actress, so for comic book fans, the news that she was about to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe might not have been seen as a positive!

Well, E! Online has now confirmed that Rihanna won't be making an appearance in Black Panther 2.

The nine-time Grammy winner could one day land a major comic book movie role, but it would have been strange for Marvel Studios to give her a shot in what is no doubt going to be one of their most challenging releases to date. The follow-up to 2018's Oscar-nominated Black Panther is going ahead without its leading man, Chadwick Boseman, and it's currently unclear what the plan is for how this franchise moves forward minus the actor who helped make T'Challa an icon.

With the villain now in place and shooting set to begin next July, we're bound to learn more soon, including whether the plan is to cast a new actor as Black Panther or have Letitia Wright's Shuri take up the mantle.

We'll keep you updated!
