BLACK PANTHER Will "Absolutely" Get A Sequel; Tentative Plans Already In Place For The Story

Given the unprecedented success of Marvel and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther movie, a sequel was pretty much a foregone conclusion anyway - but now we have official confirmation that it's going to happen...

Marvel's Black Panther continues to claw through its competition, and is fast approaching the $1 billion mark at the global box office. For this reason - not to mention the fact that, Incredible Hulk aside, Marvel Studios has yet to not make a sequel to any of their films - a follow-up was all-but inevitable, and now it's been officially confirmed.

BLACK PANTHER SPOILERS: A Rundown Of All Of The Biggest Reveals And Most Shocking Moments

During an interview with EW, Kevin Feige was asked about his plans for a return visit to Wakanda, and while he had "nothing specific to reveal", he did confirm that "we absolutely will do that."

"One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one."

Again, this is not exactly breaking news - but it is still nice to hear that Feige and co. are already thinking about a direction the film could go in.

Idk what it was but that song at the end of the movie when the little kids were playing ball in the exact same court from the beginning of the movie, I start thinking about killmonger and connecting everything I start getting ready eyed

@XelCorp - The film really gives new meaning to that album. The song you're talking about is "All the Stars" and it's really about that kid and all those kids T'Challa and Wakanda are gonna help in that neighbourhood. All the stars (which are the kids' dreams) are closer now because of what T'Challa is gonna do for them.

Really powerful stuff.

@XelCorp - Loved the afro-futurism, beautiful cinematography and greatly talented ensemble..

but i feel the film is marginalizing when killing the malcolm x hero and romanticizing the idea of economic colonialism and having the monarchical superior state save the 'poor people' from their own selves is the only message we can exemplify for our minorities, women, and children.

yeah, i like the black power message, but the entirety of the third act was just another effort for Disney to indoctrinate audiences into believing that poor people need rich people so they can be saved, instead of exemplifying or inspiring those poor people and minorities that are suppressed to rise above the discriminatory and segregating class warfare we face today themselves.

This film's message conveys the idea that followers should only remain as followers and if they dont, they will get killed in the same fate of Killmonger. Even if the act is just.

This movie should've inspired those people that are suppressed to become their own leaders to enact the change so equality and justice can be established for all.

but thats none of my business, right?

@BlindWedjat - no no no I mean the song that is playing while the kids are playing basket ball in that court. THis is still during the movie right before the credits roll. But yes All the Stars too

@PrinceAwesome - I would have liked a little more light Marxism in the political message as well, but I have no problem with taking more of the MLK as opposed to younger Malcolm route. That sort of extremism just isn't unifying enough for me. Also, I don't believe Disney is consciously indoctrinating any political economic position. The message you see is there, but I believe it's a matter of lack of consideration, rather than a purposefully imposed imperative.

The pro-monarchy stuff has always bothered me. I get that the character was always written as a king, but my democratic socialist sensibilities cannot abide the idea of a royal bloodline, or one based on prowess in combat for that matter. Sure, T'Challa is the epitome of a benevolent king, but that smacks of a lucky instance of a backward system.
