It seems the connections between the Black Panther cast go back further than anyone may have guessed. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, M’Baku actor Winston Duke revealed that he and Lupita Nyong’o were grad student together at the Yale School of Drama and dreamed about their current Black Panther success while watching Joss Whedon’s first Avengers film.
“We were both enamored with The Hulk. We were all like Arrrgh! Every time Hulk got on the screen,” Duke told EW. He continued, “And we had moments of, ‘Do you think we’ll ever be in something like this?’ That was before 12 Years a Slave. Before anything. We were both just students dreaming. What’s the future going to be like?”
Well, the future holds appearances by both M’Baku and Nakia in May’s upcoming third Avengers film. Do you think the J’bari leader will have an important role to play or was his popularity with Black Panther audiences something Marvel didn’t anticipate?
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their super hero allies must willing to sacrifice it all in an attempt to defeat the power of Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
