BLACK WIDOW: The Identity Of Ray Winstone's Character In The Movie May Have Finally Been Revealed

Black Widow may no longer have a release date, but a new piece of intel about the Marvel Studios movie has seemingly been revealed which finally sheds some light on who Ray Winstone is playing in the MCU!

Black Widow has been postponed indefinitely thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, but the Marvel Studios movie was recently the subject of an Empire Magazine cover story. Now, thanks to the @MarvelNewsCast Twitter account, we know that the issue reveals the identity of Ray Winstone's character.

He's reportedly playing Dreykov, the head of the Red Room (presumably before Taskmaster took charge based on what we've been hearing about Black Widow lately).

Here's where things get really interesting, though; as The Direct notes, when Loki is taunting Natasha Romanoff aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier in The Avengers, he asks "Can you wipe out that much red? Dreykov's daughter?" There have previously been claims that Winstone is playing the hero's father in this movie, but that appears to be something which has been taken a little too literally.

Instead, common sense says that Dreykov was probably the man in charge of the Red Room when Natasha was being trained there, and he's likely a character we'll see in flashbacks to her youth.

How that all ties into Taskmaster taking charge of a new era of Black Widows is hard to say, but it's definitely cool to see how much thought Marvel Studios has clearly given Natasha's origin story, and that they've found a way to tie it into The Avengers (which, believe it or not, came out eight years ago).

What do you guys think about this latest Black Widow reveal?

@MrCamw1 - I heard Idris Elba is still playing Macavity the Mystery Cat in Suicide Squad 2; it's why his character hasn't been revealed yet, Gunn wants it to be a surprise. Also why post production is gonna be so long.

@tmp3 - hopefully it's to make the best damn Suicide squad movie possible. Also if Elba walks on set wearing that fur coat he wore in Cats it's a 10/10 from me lol

@MrCamw1 - Rocksteady is rumored to be making a Suicide Squad next gen game too (not related to the movie). Guess that property is very important to WB rn across the board. Heard Tom Taylor's comic relaunch was solid too.

@tmp3 - if Tocksteadys moving away from Batman I'm all in. Nothing against the Arkham Trilogy I love the games but it's time for new characters to shine. Ot named Batman. I'll have to check out Taylor's relaunch.

@MrCamw1 - Rocksteady's not working on a Batman game, but they are working on a "team-up DC game" not involving the Justice League. Can't think of what else it could be outside of Suicide Squad or Teen Titans

@tmp3 - I doubt what I'm about to say but with the success of Doom Patrol maybe something weird like that.

I don't think I've seen Ray Winstone in a movie since The Departed.

@tmp3

The whole "nuke the fridge" scene and swinging with monkeys turned me off of it.

Came out the same summer as The Dark Knight...just didn't give a shit haha
