BLACK ADAM: Dwayne Johnson Reveals That He Started Working On The DC Comics Movie In 2008

Work on every upcoming movie has been put on hold for the foreseeable future thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, so whether the highly anticipated Black Adam will start shooting over the summer as planned is hard to say. We can only hope right now, but Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has taken to Instagram to shed some light on his first superhero movie.

The wrestler turned actor started by revealing that it was, "In 2008 is when we first started talking about this, so it has a required a patience by all of us as partners. I'm a much different man and an actor than I was ten years ago." He added that the long wait has been worth it, and once again confirmed that Black Adam is going to be an origin story for the anti-hero.

Johnson also made a comparison to Superman, explaining that this character has a very different moral compass because his approach to dealing with enemies is "[ripping] you in half, literally."

The full video is well worth a watch because it's clear that Black Adam represents a very different sort of story in the DC Extended Universe with a lead who perhaps isn't the sort of "hero" we're used to seeing! Still, Shazam crossed with The Punisher along with an added injection of The Rock's trademark charm should result in one of the most exciting additions to this shared world to date.

Black Adam is currently set to be released on December 22nd, 2021!

He’s certainly passionate about playing him... but think he’s gonna have to wait a little longer beyond this summer to start playing him if headlines are true🤔

That's about as long as it took Reynolds to make Deadpool.

@WakandanQueen - Reynolds needed DP though, his career was at a low point before that movie came out. Dwayne is still headlining blockbusters, I don't see why he wants to make this movie so bad...

Unnecessary movie, just give him Lobo.

Can someone explain his obsession with Black Adam to me? It's good to have passion but it's interesting that he chose a relatively obscure character, general public has never heard about Black Adam. I feel someone like The Rock isn't a comics reader but maybe I'm wrong.
