Unsurprisingly, the most common name for these adopted cats is T'Challa after the film's hero but there are also cases of moggys being named Shuri and Okoye, after other fan-favourite characters.

Without this boost from Black Panther, black cats are often the least likely type to be adopted due to their association with many outdated superstitions like bad luck and witchcraft. If this user's claims are legitimate it could lead to a long overdue abolishment of these disproportionate adoption rates on account of their negative association which sadly, up to now, has left many black cats without homes.

This only adds to the list of charitable acts brought on by Marvel Studios' recent hit

If you were to adopt a black cat, which character from the movie would you name them after?

@Spidey91 - I've always said, if I ever get a cat or dog, I'm going to name it Nightcrawler. That's a badass name for a cat.
