Black Widow arrives in theaters and on Disney+ next month, and Rachel Weisz appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to hype her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Melina.
However, when the host introduced the actress as "Melina Vostokoff," Weisz seemingly confirmed that the character's full name should be considered a spoiler. "I think we’re not allowed to say Melina’s second name though, right? I think we’re prohibited from saying Melina’s second name," she said. "I think it’s a Marvel Cinematic Universe secret."
It was too late by that point, of course, but fans have known for a while that Weisz's character is better known as Iron Maiden in the comic books. "She is a Black Widow. She's been trained as a Black Widow spy, she's a highly-skilled spy and scientist," Weisz added when asked what she could share about her role. "She runs kind of, well, a pig farm. That's where the family have met me [in the clip], at my scientific lab where I also keep pigs which I experiment on."
She concluded by saying Melina is "highly-skilled, highly-trained in combat, [and] fluent in 25 languages."
A new clip from Black Widow has also been released which expands on that scene with Melina, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Natasha Romanoff. Clearly, Melina doesn't have as many fond memories as her "husband," but it appears there's still real chemistry between the two of them...
