Sony Bringing Valiant Comics Character BLOODSHOT To The Screen

You may have heard of Bloodshot, he was (now defunct) comic brand Valiant's flagship character. Now Deadline report that we will be getting a big screen outing for the big lug..

You may remember Mathew Vaughn was said to be directing a Bloodshot movie some time ago, but it turns out he had passed before the rumor even broke. All has been quiet since, but now Sony will be seeking out another director to take the reigns.

From Deadline..

Sony Pictures has closed a deal to acquire Bloodshot, the Valiant Comics series. The deal was $450,000 against $1 million, i hear, and Jeff Wadlow will write the script. Neal Moritz will produce through his Original Film Banner along with Jason Kothari and Dinesh Shamdasani for Valiant Entertainment.

Bloodshot tells the story of Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless Mob killer who has his memory erased and his blood infused with microscopic computers called nanites. These allow him to - heal quickly, dominate electronic devices, and fully control every aspect of his body to maximize his physical capabilities. He then sets out to eliminate everyone involved in his transformation, while trying to piece together his past. Yeah I'm thinking "Franken-Castle" too, but remember this predates him! So any Bloodshot fans here? Thoughts on cast/director etc?

COOL CHARACTER..

THIS WILL LOOK GOOD ON FILM, IF THEY DO IT RIGHT AND GET THE RIGHT ACTOR...

Skills & abilities: The enhancements in Bloodshot's body gives him enhanced strength and reflexes. The nanites makes it possible for him to regenerate lost bodyparts by absorbing organic matter like steaks or cats. The nanites also makes his body malleable enabling him to change his looks into e.g. a fat person of African or Asian origin.
Equipment: Garrison's body contains nanites in the bloodstream and cybernetic implants including an interface for communicating with computers.

Hollywood isn't reaching for this to make a movie of it Thewolfx, the new Valiant Entertainment company is restarting the line of Valiant comics starting this May and this is marketing. I'm pretty sure they'll be announcing a new Bloodshot comic coming soon on the heels of this movie news. I just wish they could start with the movie as the origin story at the same time as issue #1 was released. With this news just about the rights being acquired, a movie is at least 2 years away I figure. So this is to all tie together and make more than just comics for these greatly loved characters from the past that are returning to the present.

I for one am looking forward to any and all new Valiant comics or other forms of entertainment utilizing these characters. Valiant Entertainment has been slowly building up and organizing their plans over the past couple years. They aren't just throwing it together slapdash to make a quick buck. Seems to me they care about these characters and properties and really want to do it right.

I wish them luck and look forward to checking out whatever they produce. For those interested in more info:

Mob hitman?! Wow, when I used to see Bloodshot comic covers in Wizard (old school) I thought he was a samurai assassin or something...huh...

Never judge a character by his body markings.

I would much rather see a "The Darkness" movie but I used dig Bloodshot when it came out.
