JOSHW: As I'm sure that a few of you noticed, Kimberley Carroll (Wondergirl14) tried posting a series of pictures few days ago along with a report from the set of Captain America at the Hackney Empire in London. However, due to some technical difficulties she was unable to get the pictures to show up, but now that's sorted, and here they all are (along with her full report from the set) below! I would of course like to sat a big thank you to Kimberley for the great pictures and info she shared with us here at CBM!
Wednesday 15th September. Me and my friends took a trip to Hackney (East London) to confirm the rumors that Captain America will be filming at the Hackney Empire. As soon as we arrived, it was pretty clear something was going on due to the numerous vans mostly parked behind the theatre and all down the side roads.
While circling the block, I spotted Joe Johnston sitting with a P.A and advisors and eating a cake *SPOILER ALERT* it was chocolate! I told my friends who he was and after a little while we went up to him and asked if he was the director. The conversation pretty much went like this...
Me: Excuse Me... Are you directing
Captain America?
J.J: Maybe...why?
Me: *Lifting my camera up* Can we get a picture please?
P.A: I'll take it. *while holding the camera upside down*
J.J: So how'd you guys find out about this?
Me: Um, I'm just a supernerd.
J.J: Oh, really?
(Is it really that suprizing that a teenage girl is a comic-book fan?!)
I'd have asked more but his P.A was insistent that they went inside!
Once the picture was taken we thanked him and he was straight inside before I could ask anything else. We were going to find the stage door straight after but I think his adviser/Personal Assistant was on to us, so we waited at the front and saw a few extras entering and leaving the door, we waited at the front and took these pictures...
Upon walking around the building we saw a few extras taking cigarette breaks including various chorus girls in heavy make up and wearing Thunderbird styled blue hats with a white star on, a man dressed as Adolf Hitler when we approached him, he joked he was Charlie Chaplin. We also saw child extras dressed up in 1940s outfits as well as soldiers.
Around 3 O'clock we came back from eating to find a lot of security so maybe that hints some of the main stars arrived?
And now, here are even more great photos from the Manchester set of
