Captain America: The First Avenger" will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)


I know, nothing we hadn't figured! But there you go. Fans are still waiting anxiously for the full trailer for Captain America. Rumors persisted that it would be attached to Rango and have made it's way online by now. But in all likelihood it is going to be well into April(at least) before we see it.

it definetly will be with thor,but it would of been nice to see it sooner.

i have to wonder if the worry from the fans that the movie is garbage and Marvel doesn't know how to market is true, or if Marvel is just really enjoying all the hype and publicity Thor is getting and don't want a movie that comes out 2 months after Thor to start to draw attention away from their other big summer movie.

i truly believe once Thor opens, we are going to be pounded with Cap for two solid months.

The first Thor trailer came 6 months before the release of the movie, right? Cap's situation is a little bit different since we got the superbowl trailer first, but I really think they should put something substantial out before Thor.

Yeah, probably wont see the CA:TFA trailer until the release of Thor. I think their strategy is to let Thor get ALL the attention from now until its release. The CA:TFA trailer will debut with Thor, hopefully riding its wave of success and really drawing people into the whole CMU. Then 2 months of AGGRESSIVE marketing for CA:TFA!

If it works it will really work but I'm worried about it depending on Thor's success. I have a feeling they are confident about Thor. However even good to great movies may not have the appropriate box office.

Guess we will have to wait and see and wish all involved the best of luck!!!

well Thors being released here in the UK and several other countries in April, so I am pretty sure the trailer is either going to hit the net end of this month or some time next month.

and why didn't they just release this synopsis instead:

In 1942, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is deemed physically unfit to enlist in the U.S. Army and fight the Nazis in World War II. Volunteering instead for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation, he is physically transformed into a super-soldier dubbed Captain America. With sidekick Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), he fights the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler's treacherous head of advanced weaponry, whose own plan for world domination involves a seemingly magical object known as the Tesseract.

It might shut up the people that are worried that the Nazi's won't be involved. When in this it clearly states the red skull being hitlers right hand man.and No one besides Cap is going to be wearing a mask, he's meant to be the only super hero, the main focus thats the main reason why the Invaaders are not in the movie

my guess is the people behind the trailer don't want it to suck and have fanboys rip it apart on their websites like what happened with Green Lantern. I'm enjoying the anticipation - so long as the trailer doesn't suck once it finally arrives.

@exiles- how would adding a mask take focus away from cap? i mean really you say that as if it would be adding a whole new character. we already know bucky is in it and will be following cap throughout the movie. so again, how would a mask take away focus?

and i think the invaders are absent because of torch and namor being under fox rights. i know its a different torch but they may have the rights to the name "human torch"

Stan's so scrawny and wimpy they have to make him look like he has had his a$$ handed to him to make it more believable for the viewing audience. :-P How he is going to make a believable Winter Soldier is beyond me. He is the only one cast in this movie that I was really disappointed in.

@luckylu Cap's meant to be the ONLY masked hero in this movie, Bucky starts wearing one that defeats the whole purpose of him being the only masked hero doesn't it and yes WE know bucky wears a mask in the comic book but the movies not being made for you only you now is it. and no Namors owned by universal, I don't see why that would stop them since universal also distributed the Incredible Hulk so no Namors not there because of rights issues, and Namor, Torch are not the only ones who are part of the Invaders the last time I checked.

@Exiles, just wanted to say it's been fun reading all of your posts, u really spend a lot of time on here ;) If u've been on the site for a long time I apologize cause i didn't notice til recently but it's nice to see the diversity of the commenters, and I appreciate that your posts seem to be mostly positive which is a nice diversion from the usual.


-And that pic at the top is probably my favorite released pic of the whole movie so far. That captures the essence of Cap to me.

I hope they have a big gap between him taking the Captain America mantle and getting frozen in ice. You know, a gap big enough for the character to meet Namor and fight other battles off screen.

Exile@ Universal used to own the rights to Namor. According to Kevin Fiege, they don't own the rights to any Marvel character now.
