Days ago, three actresses―Imogen Poots, Felicity Jones, Anna Kendrick―were revealed as front-runners for the undisclosed female lead role in the forthcoming Marvel sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And now questionable sources from Vietnam newspaper Laodong are apparently quoting the anticipated film's co-director, Anthony Russo, suggesting that the latter actress listed will likely get the role. [Google Translate:]

“There are a lot of good talent, but Anna Kendrick gently mixes features tough, especially over time, she has proven her own ability. Can't say anything, but we do not deny hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with her in the near future”

Again, these “close sources” are in indeed questionable. Therefore, don't be surprised if news emerges that contradicts what's being reported above. Anyhow, in case Anna Kendrick does land the role, it's somewhat relevent to know the 27-year-old actress received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Up in the Air. If she gets the role, strongly believed to be Sharon Carter, what do you think?

Described as a political thriller, Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) continues his affiliation with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. With an expected return from James 'Bucky' Barnes (Sebastian Stan), actor Anthony Mackie is also set to star. And Anthony & Joe Russo (“Community,” “You, Me and Dupree”) take over directorial duties from Joe Johnston, who helmed the first film. And “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
