Chris Evans talks more about playing Steve Rogers/Captain America in the upcoming film 'Captain America: The First Avenger'!

Chris Evans told MTV that accepting to play the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America in the upcoming July 22, 2011, film adaption was not easy to say yes too.

"No, it wasn't an easy yes I get nervous. I get nervous in things like this [referring to interviews and public appearances]. Captain America means a lot of this."

Evans admitted that the decision was a particularly tough one because he was in a really happy place in his life and his career, and wasn't sure if he was ready to be catapulted into such a specific, fans-obsessing-over-every-detail-type spotlight. "[Playing] Captain America just changes things, and there's really no off switch once you walk down that road."

Evans went on to say, however, that his reservations don't in any way damper his excitement for making the film.

"There's nothing wrong with the project," Evans explained. "I love the people involved, the character, the script, Hugo [Weaving]. There was nothing wrong there, it was just about the lifestyle change and whether or not I was willing to do it."

Evans acknowledges the work he has cut out for him, but he's trying to get to a place where he can just enjoy himself.

"There's no turning back now," he said. "I'm just trying to make all the negatives positives and just enjoy the ride."

Thats good on Evans, he really should be more then thrilled to be The Star Spangled Avenger!

He should talk about how he got lucky getting the role, over other worthy actors.

But, don't worry Chris. I blame the casting directors, not you. ;D

@Minotauro

Totally agreed...this was a casting directors mistake but for the most part I think he can pull this together for a great movie. It's not going to be easy considering most of Marvel's fans know him as the Human Torch so going from that to the figurehead of the franchise is no easy feat.
Do I think he can pull it off tho? Yes

SO STOP $!@&ING BITCHING AND ACCEPT THE ROLE CHRIS!!!

i think Chris was a great role! if i didnt watch "PUSH" i would have been a lil worried, but after watching PUSH and seeing him take more of a leader role and not acting like a jock i know he is perfect for the role

@spider - did you see "Sunshine?" Its a pretty good sci-fi movie in itself but wasn't exactly popular in the mainstream. Evans has a pretty different role where we get to see him do some Cap-like speeches, and in one scene he's even submersed in sub-zero mainframe coolant, so we know he can pull off the "big freeze" at the end of the Cap movie lol.

No, I still think this will suck, but I never thought it was because of the cast, it's just the direction Joe Johnston wants to take. Although I obviously haven't seen the movie so I'm still waiting be proven wrong :D
