The Liverpool Daily Post have confirmed that Captain America: The First Avenger will film in the UK city this Autumn. According to the site, the Liverpool Film Office have confirmed that the Marvel Studios blockbuster is on it's way while Bafta and Emmy-award winning producer Colin McKeown, the driving force behind the city’s LA Productions, had this to say about the production.
"I've known about it for some time because everybody talks. The last Hollywood flick that the city was heavily involved in was 51st State – but this promises to be five times what that was. From what I understand there is going to be an awful lot of community involvement."
"We are a city full of filming expertise and talent and it would be a crying shame if that wasn’t tapped in to. I think Marvel will be really pleased at what the city can offer and I’m sure this film will really bolster our film-making credentials."
However, the really interesting part from their interview with McKeown is that the WWII based movie will possibly feature a submarine as well as a specific location as to where it'll be:
"It’s been mentioned that they might be using a submarine in the Albert Dock, it all sounds really good."
Could this have anything to do with the well known scene from Ed Brubaker's run on the Captain America comic book where the Russians find Bucky's body in the ocean and bring him aboard their submarine!? Probably not, but who knows!
