Action Comics #1-12: Starting off, we have the iconic series that was rebooted for the first time in over 70 years. This series has been ok. It started off strong with the first four issues. Then it went in to a side story about the Legion of Superheroes teaming up with Superman. I felt that it should have been put off until the end of the first arc. The rest of the arc was good, but not as good as the first half. After that, issue 9 took a side step into another universe. This issue was strange, so I didn't really care about it. To close out the year was a three issue arc involving the apparent death of Clark Kent and the "Forgotten Superman." This was an interesting arc, and ended with a nice reveal that put a smile on my face. Its an ok series, but hopefully it will get better. 2.5 out of 5
Animal Man #1-12& Annual #1: Get ready for some geeking out. I didn't pick this up at first, but decided to after hearing all the praise it was getting. And boy is this title amazing. It follows Buddy Baker as he tries to fight the rot. So far, all 12 issues have been gruesome, violent, and amazing. The standalone Annual was also a nice little tale expanding on the Animal Man world. This can be read as a standalone, but it is best read alongside Swamp Thing. 5 out of 5 all the way.
Detective Comics #1-8: What a fantastic start to a series. Issue one left me with my jar hanging open. And every issue after declined more and more in quality. After reaching the Court of Owls issue, I called it quits. The art is good but the story is so bad and boring. 1 out of 5
Earth 2 # 1-4: This is one of the second wave titles. Not much to say on it as it has only been four issues. The art is good, and the story so far has me interested. Hopefully it will pick up a bit though as it is kinda slow. 2.8 out of 5
Green Arrow # 1-9: It started off with three bad issues. Then the story started to pick up. Then they put Ann Nocenti on the book and it became even worse. The art ranged from ok to bad. .7 out of 5
Justice League International #1-12& annual #1: I really liked this book. It was fun, lighthearted, and Booster Gold always brings a smile too my face. The art was good, and the story, while a bit generic, was fun. The annual was great, making me look forward to whats to come with these characters even though the book is cancelled.(Please be a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle team up book.) 3 out of 5
Red Lanterns #1-12: This is an ok book. The story was very slow at first, taking almost 7 issues to start moving. The artist change at issue 8 fits the book well. Overall, if you are willing to deal with the slowly building plot, you may enjoy this book. 2.4 out of 5
Swamp Thing #1-12: Another series that I didn't start reading right away, I picked this up with Animal Man. And boy was it worth it. I don't enjoy this as much as Animal Man, but that is just a matter of taste. The story is great, and the art is really good. This is best read with Animal Man. 4.5 out of 5
World's Finest #1-4: I have mixed feelings about the book. I didn't really like the first story arc, but I am going to stick with it because I like the characters. The problem is I find it much more interesting to see Huntress and Power Girl discover new things about this world that is very similar while very different to their world. The art work is pretty good, and I like the way it switches art when it shows a flashback. 2.5 out of 5
Batman #1-12& annual #1: Is there anything I can say that has not been said yet. Amazing and intriguing story, great twists, fantastic art. 5 out of 5
Batman and Robin #1-12: I was very disappointed with the first issue. I didn't like the art or story. Than it started to grow on me. I ended up loving the first story arc. Then we reach the second story. This was such a disappointment. I would rather have spent time focusing on the Robins instead of a bunch of weird villains trying to defeat Batman. 3 out of 5
Green Lantern #1-12& annual #1: In preparation for the New 52, I caught up on Geoff John's run on GL. I loved it. And as it continued into The New 52, I still loved it. Sinestro is one of my favorite characters, and to see him as a anti-hero is awesome. The building story has been amazing, and the annual actually made me tear up. If you have read ALL of Geoff John's run on GL, I recommend reading this comic. 5 out of 5
Superboy #1-9: The first issue was kinda disappointing. Then the series got a lot better. Until it started coinciding with Teen Titans. Then the series started to get all jumbled up. If it starts to get away from Teen Titans, I will pick it up again. 1.5 out of 5
Green Lantern Corps #1-12: This is a really fun a nice looking book. People seem to be split on liking Guy Gardner. I really like him, and boy is he great in this book. If you want deep psycological stuff, this book is not for you. If you want fun action with decent plot and great artwork, pick this up. 4 out of 5
Nightwing #1-12: Like a lot of series, the first arc was a lot of fun and really enjoyable. The first 9 issues really add a lot to Dick Grayson's character. Then the next arc is not as good. I do not like the art work as much as the first 9 issue, and I feel like the villain was really week. 3 out of 5
Red Hood and the Outlaw #1-12: This is my favorite book. Now before you click out of this review for me saying that, hear me out. The book has amazing artwork(for the first 11 issues) and it is so much fun. The way the trio play off each other is great. There are some flaws (issue 12's artwork is pretty bad as they changed artist) but if you give it a chance, it is a lot of fun. 4 out of 5
Supergirl #1-12: This is the most underrated book of the New 52. It is a retelling of Supergirl's origin. The artwork is really cool, and seeing Kara struggle as she tries to find herself in this strange, new world is really interesting. 4 out of 5
Aquaman #1-12: What a shock this was. Geoff Johns again proves that he is a great writer. This story has been really good, an Johns has made Aquaman and Mera into badass characters. The artwork is amazing, and the building story is awesome. If I have any complaint, it would be that a month in between mess up the flow of story, so I think this would be better to read in bulk instead of individual issues each month. 4 out of 5.
Batman Inc. #1-3: I love this series. Grant Morrison's writing can go either way for me, but this is amazing. I love all three issues, and I can't wait to see how Morrison ends his amazing and sometimes confusing Batman epic. 5 out of 5
Batman: The Dark Knight #1-12: ...what do I say about this series. The first arc sucked. It was a bad rehash of Knightfall. The story was weak, but the art was really good. Then comes a new writer, Greg Hurwitz. Now, the story is slightly better, but the art is starting to suffer. If it does not get better, you guys know what book I will be dropping. 1.5 out of 5
The Flash #1-12& annual #1: First issue really disappointed me as I love the Flash. And it only got better from there. The artwork is really cool, and the story has me interested. I like the way Manapul has slowly built up the Rouges. 4.5 out of 5
Green Lantern: New Guardians #1-12 and Blue Beetle #9: This has been a fun book. The artwork is good. The story has been decent. It drags out a bit and gets a bit convoluted, but it is a nice edition to the Green Lantern world. 3 out of 5
Justice League #1-12: Even though a lot of people have not enjoyed this, I think it has worked out well. The first arc established the team. Issue 8&9
set up the world around the Justice League, and the last 4 issues established character development from the team. Though there is a LOT of room for improvement, this book has had good art and a decent story. I can't wait to see whats too come. 3 out of 5
Justice League Dark #9-12: When I heard Jeff Lemire was taking over JLD, I had too pick it up. And boy does this not disappoint. All the character mesh together well, and you can't help but smile whenever John Constantine talks. The story has been a great, and the art, while not my favorite art style, is really good. 5 out of 5.
Superman #1-12: Ahhh what a disappointment. The story has kept getting worse. There are some decent aspects such as art and some fun character stuff, but overall, it sucks. Hopefully, Scott Lobdell can turn it around. 1.5 out of 5
Teen Titans #1-9: This series has disappointed me beyond belief. I grew up watching the Teen Titans animated series, and loved it. I knew this would not be the same team at all, but I was hoping it would be fun. It was at first. The it started to tie in with Superboy, messing up both titles. 1.5 out of 5.
So that is it for now. I will start coming out of weekly review. I will start picking up Batgirl, Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, Team 7, and The Phantom Stranger starting this month. Hope this review was enjoyable. Happy reading
