Tonytony- Lets you know what comics to pick up

Hey CBM fam,

summertime is up but it doesnt mean that the superhero session is ended while Im waiting for the new seasons of the flash and daredevil to return I thought i would share some of my current favourite comic books with you all, these are the ones that the story has got me intrigued and cant wait for the next issues.

Superman #43

who would have thought a depowered, confused and endangered superman would be entertaining? he is!

Firstly i want to start with the recent superman comics, which have been excellent. I previously hadnt actually read many stories with John romita Jr artwork but its pretty cool
What i really love however is a Gene Luen Yangs story. 
This arc Begins with the fallout of superman developing a new solar flare ability he struggles to control but also becoming depowered, you end with a terrific dichotomy of a depowered superman who is also a potential walking talking bomb to those around him.
The most recent issue shows how and why lois lane chose to reveal his identity to the world, if you are not reading this, i suggest you pick it up. Its pretty good.


Justice League

• the green lantern hal jordan being thrown into the past of krypton
• Wonder woman being stranded in the heavens
• batman stealing the mobius chair off metron
• the anti-monitor and darkseid facing off

these are just some of the intriguing developments within this terrific story arc,  Credit must go to Geoff Johns who is crafting a genuinely brilliant arc  and has created a really genuine ensemble story. He is fast becoming my favourite comic book writer and anyone not reading this is mad and is definitely missing out. Out of all my recommendations if you had to pick one, then pick this.  I have been surprised by how good its been so far especially over the last 4 episodes.


Batman/superman

Superman + batman= Good times

This gives us the fallout after supermans identity has been revealed and batmans near fatal run in with the joker (after death in the family) but at the same time it also explores how clark is getting to grips with the new batman, but the way the story is split into two  and meshed with this familiar superman trying to work with this very different batman is intriguing to say the least.
What i really love about this series at the moment is how Greg Pak really gets the reader into supermans head.  Its a fresh approach to what is a really good partnership.



Secret wars

Not quit game of thrones but a must read for comic fans

I actually used to be an avid reader of every marvel comic, at the moment the standout from them is secret wars. I love how the story is unravelling and how with each episode a piece of what happened after the universe ended is revealed, initially i was concerned that they were trying too hard be Game of thrones, but its not a bad source material to draw from, however this is its own thing and i am constantly looking forward to the next episode. you all really need to be reading this


Martian Manhunter

Mr Biscuits, the alien that loves biscuits, 

Anyone who knows me knows i have always been a big Martian manhunter fan, in the new 52 Martian manhunter was absent and without his own comics, but he is back and in a good way, this is a very quirky written comic with multiple perspective and a disjointed voice but its done in a very intelligent way and unusual way that my intrigue has been perked. Quite a bit of misdirection and suprise in this so far but in a good way. I recommend you all pick this up its a good read for one of the best characters in comics overall.
