Over at
Bleeding Cool they posted a story that just really makes me sick. Mike Meyer, a mentally disabled man who makes an honest living at McDonalds, has had over $5000 dollars worth of Superman comics and memorabilia stolen from him. Mr. Meyer put his trust in to a man named "Gary" who pressured him to see his collection and in turn took off with over $5000 worth of the collection.
This is from
St. Louis Today via
Bleedig Cool:
Mike Meyer’s collection contained Superman lunch boxes, radios, TVs, Monopoly, and comic books from the fifties to the present day.
But now they are in the hands of a man called Gary who he met in a comic store and who asked, indeed pressured to see the collection.
And then, at a later date, took the opportunity to take the more precious comic books.
Gary is described as having “dark hair, a goatee, is about 35 and drives a silver or gray car.
If anyone has been offered Superman comics from the fifties in the last couple of weeks, it might be a good idea to get in touch.
UPDATE:
Thanks to
Newsarama we have quotes from Mike about the incident. Apparently Mr. Meyers worked with Gary a while ago and knew about the collection. He ran in to him at Kyle’s Baseball Cards and Comics and asked to see it again.
“He just kept talking like a salesman,” Meyer said.
“He wouldn’t take no for an answer.” After showing him one more time, Gary showed up with girlfriend claiming she wanted to watch Mike's Superman movies. While they watched Gary slipped off and stole the items while Mr. Meyer and Gary's Girlfriend watched on. Said Mike of the robbery
“He invaded my privacy, and he took away my peace of mind.” Gary is said to have made off with some where around 1800 comics.
As stated "Gary" has dark hair and a Goatee is around the age of 35 and drives a silver or grey car. Mr. Meyer lives with his two dogs Krypto and Dyno in Granite City, Missouri so if you live around that area and know any information about this please come forward with it.
