Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the writing team behind J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Transformers films, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, have set their sights on adapting the IDW Comic, Locke & Key, for the silver screen. Universal Pictures is the studio behind it, and IDW CEO Ted Adams will co-produce. Today, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Albert Torres has been hired to write the screenplay. Torres has "a draft of Warners’ Akira and Silver Pictures’ Ben 10 as well as Hyde, an adaptation of a Dark Horse comic from Paramount and Skydance." The comic was created by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. Below, is a trailer from the fail Fox pilot.

Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box) creates an all-new story of dark fantasy and wonder: Locke & Key. Written by Hill and featuring astounding artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them... and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all... - idwpublishing

One of the greatest comics I've read in a long time. If this gets done right, it's going to be awesome!
