COMICS: Bendis Talks AGE OF ULTRON

Brian Michael Bendis calls Age of Ultron the "single biggest disaster in the history of Marvel Comics" and that the last pages of the Age of Ultron are "the biggest secret at the company". How can you not be intrigued by that?

Move over Dan Slott, apparently the secrets of Age of Ultron (AU) trump those surrounding Slott's Dying Wish arc and the identity of the Superior Spider-Man over on Amazing Spider-Man (at least according to Bendis). Apparently Ultron has risen to "a level of intelligence where he's able to take out the [Marvel Universe] and [the heroes] won't even know what happened."

Based on what's said above and what we know so far, it looks as if AU could potentially be the catalyst for widespread destruction and death across the Marvel NOW! universe. Sure, maybe the A-listers are safe but if some of the B and C-listers are your favorites, I'd be sweating bullets. Age of Ultron will hit LCS this March. Be sure to add it to your Pull List, I certainly will.

So Ultron wil be even more omnipotent? I didn't know there were different levels. Oh well another character completely ruined by this hack. Let's go somewhere that there is no return from, nice.

When will Marvel realize this guy destroys. He doesn't add anything to the universe he just takes away.

@SpideyQuad Until your involvement writing about comic books extends into comics and off of internet threads, you're the hack.

Oh great... another event comic. Comics need to try to tell more contained stories.

I feel like I've seen a lot of cover featuring several heroes lying unconscious to emphasize how powerful the threat is.

Superior Spider-Man will die, and then Peter will some how come back and be Spider-Man, again.

I think Bendis is the single biggest disaster in the history of Marvel comics.

is this going to be a mini-series or major cross-over event like Civil War, Fear Itself, and AvX?

Every event over the last 10 summers has been touted as being "The Biggest". How many times can you destroy New York in a decade anyway?

So we're going to see heroes fighting a villain? How innovative! How original! So much more clever than heroes endlessly fighting other heroes. God, am I sick to death of that crap!! Why, this sounds like something from the good old days, when heroes may squabble, but they saved their real fighting for the villain at hand.

I just wish that this was a self-contained story in one Avengers book, rather than another all-encompassing event that will require buying twenty or thirty titles I couldn't care less about at four bucks a pop to follow the story. IF we could keep this thing to just the Avengers team titles-what is that these days, like four or five books?- that would sure help those of us who are on a budget.

Marvel72 and others: Agreed about the awesomeness of Age of Apocalypse.

And before anyone points this out, while I wish that this Age of Ultron was self-contained in one title, I recognize that Marvel's marketing department would never allow that when it can shake down comic readers for more money. That is why I'm hoping we can keep it contained to a reasonable number of titles, instead of involving half the titles in the Marvel universe, many of which I can't afford and have zero interest in.

@comicb00kguy From my understanding, it will only tie-in into Superior Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Avengers & New Avengers of course.

@ HalloweenJack

I think SpideyQuad's comment WAS implying that the notion of different levels of omnipotent is silly, but in a sarcastic way. It was meant to be silly.

King Nerd to each his own. I have no problem with your opinion I don't see why to do with mine. I obviously don't write or draw, but I've been invested in the medium for over five decades at the consumer.

Halloween no I wrote exactly what I meant. I was trying to approach an air of sarcasm. Sorry if I wasn't more clear. The effect is definitely lost if you have to explain, so my bad.

I will admit I've never read his run on daredevil or ultimate Spiderman. He basically destroyed Over six years of the avengers in my eyes. And from what I got from those issues he doesn't necessarily write stories, he types meaningless conversations. Sometimes really long meaningless conversations consisting of one word comments. It reminds me of a teenage girl trying to be oversensitive. But again like I said above that's my opinion I'm not trying to sway anybody, that's just how I feel.

Peace out s

All I know is that Bendis royally cocked up one of my favorite characters in their last solo outing. Moon Knight deserves a whole lot better than the rubbish that he was subjected to with Bendis behind the pen.

@Derpina-I have to disagree. Moon Knight is a street level charater, and yet he got the prison bitch treatment from Bendis. I really want to be excited for the Age of Ultron, but with Bendis holding the reins, I'm very wary.

Marvel87: Only four tie-in titles? That's not too unreasonable. I'll have to check this out. Been quite a while since I saw a good Ultron story.
