In recent weeks, fans have witnessed a revolution of the Spider-Man mythos in Edge of Spider-Verse. Each jam-packed issue contains thrilling stories by all-star creators that introduces breakout new Spider-Heroes like Spider-Rex, the new Spider-UK, and Sun-Spider, all while redefining fan-favourite heroes like Araña, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham.

Arriving on October 5, Edge of Spider-Verse #5, the final issue of the limited series, will debut three extraordinary new heroes, each one swinging onto the scene to take readers headfirst into a brand new era of Spider-Verse storytelling!

Here's what we can expect from the final issue in Marvel Comics' latest Spider-Verse saga:

  • Web-Weaver, a not-so-mild mannered fashion designer at Van Dyne gets spider-powers and shows us a very different kind of Spider-Slayer in a story by Steve Foxe and Kei Zama. You can see him strut the runway in front of his fellow Spiders in a variant cover by Kris Anka, the amazing artist behind Web-Weaver’s fabulous design.
  • Imagine a world where Sergei Kravinoff got Spider-Powers. Meet Hunter-Spider, the most hardcore Spider yet, in a riveting tale by Dan Slott, J. M. DeMatteis, and Bob McLeod! Take a closer look at his fearsome design by superstar artist Mark Bagley in a special variant cover.
  • Phil Lord, the filmmaker behind the Spider-Verse movies, teams up with artist David Lopez to create a new Spider that you have to see to believe. It's said we'll have to wait until the issue goes on sale to meet Syllie Spider, a one-of-a-kind new Marvel character who will also get the spotlight on a classified variant cover by Lopez!

And remember, this is only the beginning! Edge of Spider-Verse will serve as the foundation for Dan Slott and Mark Bagley’s new Spider-Man #1 where the dark threat seeking to bring about the end of the Spider-Verse will be revealed (it's thought to be the returning Morlun and Shathra).

The Spider-Heroes we have met along the way will also play key roles in this war, and you can check out all of the amazing cover art for the Edge of Spider-Verse finale below.

I'm so happy I don't read comics anymore. It's become absolute trash. I never say that lightly. There's a reason Manga is outselling comics nowadays.

Manga's Focus: A good story
American Comic's Focus: Identity Politics

One continues to rise in sales while the other declines. I'll let you figure out which

@airbeyonder18 - Are you plugged into the upcoming launch of Isom? Independent and the creator has said it will be focused on storytelling and not inserting messages.

@mountainman - Hey thank you for reminding me of that. Indie comics ARE THE silver lining. I am a fan of Indie, actually find Isom to be interesting. I just am not into Marvel or DC anymore. They just run into circular cycles and the quality is paying for it. But yes, thankfully Indie comics are rising where Marvel and DC are sinking (aside from Manga).

@airbeyonder18 - We obviously don’t know the quality of product yet, but it is shipping soon. I don’t read comics like I used to, but I always think competing in any industry is a good thing.

@mountainman - Oh 100& competition's healthy. You're right. Comic could be bad and die quick or it could bring something that could blossom

My Spider-Sense is feeling rustled jimmies on a beautiful Friday morning. I love it.

Does that mean he'll have eight nipple lasers?

@Reeds2Much - I was okay when they rammed two nipple lasers down my throat, but I tell you, if they go to 6 nipple lasers, I’m done. This is why US comic sales are slipping. We must stop the nipple laser agenda!

@Dotanuki - I know what you mean! I'm okay with one, or even two rammed down my throat, but once you get up to 5 or 6 it's just sheer pandemonium!!! I mean by that point it just becomes a big blur of nipples and lasers and disco balls and cocaine and everyone's shooting and slipping and - wait, what were we talking about again?

So a majority of this was conceptual art that was ripped off from the creators and used without their permission - so it's understandable why it looks unfinished. That said the designs are garbage. People can do better individually than what Marvel is producing in comics. I hope more individual creators get inspired to battle the current comic industry titans because the stuff they are producing sucks and it'd be easy to surpass. -coughs- Rippaverse -Coughs-

@Scarilian - Agreed. I hope it is successful, mainly because I like Eric July as a person. I don't read comics any more so I won't be reading it but I think having more players in the market is always a good thing. There's a reason that Manga has been outselling Marvel and DC lately and its been because of the declining quality. New blood is needed. And maybe if Marvel and DC suffer in sales enough, they will pivot back to good storytelling.
