Marvel Comics Confirms New SHANG-CHI AND THE TEN RINGS Ongoing Series To Launch This July

This summer, writer Gene Luen Yang teams up with artist Marcus To to continue their Shang-Chi saga with Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings #1. After revelations about the hero's origin and family, dangerous additions to his rogues gallery, and changes to his relationship with the wider Marvel Universe, the hero's future is more unpredictable than ever.

Following the emergence of the legendary Ten Rings, we've learned that their power rivals the Infinity Gems and that makes them a weapon everyone from Hydra to the Hand wants their hands on. Now, Marvel Comics has announced that Shang-Chi is getting a new ongoing series with the previously solicited Shang-Chi #13 now Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings #1.

Shang-Chi has gained possession of the powerful Ten Rings. But so much concentrated energy has not gone unnoticed and every bounty hunter, assassin and evil syndicate in the Marvel Universe is coming to take the Rings from him! But will the responsibility and the truth of the Rings be too much to bear for the hero? The debut issue will see Shang-Chi in a striking showdown with Razorfist, more trouble for the Five Weapons Society, and the first appearance of a new foe - Red Cannon!

"It's been such a joy to work with Marcus To over the last couple of months. He's a brilliant artist. His characters are vibrant and full of energy, and he's so good at fight choreography!" Yang said in a press release today. "We're all really excited about the new #1! And about bringing in ten of the most powerful items ever into the Marvel Universe!"

"[We're] gearing up to give the fans one hell of an action packed book," To added. "Shang-Chi is the greatest hand-to-hand combatant in the Marvel Universe, and we’re gonna show it in this story."

Check out the new Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings #1 cover below before it hits stores on July 20.

But is he a Kung fu master 🤔. Also Moon Knight was pretty good, thirty minutes in is when the meat and potatoes show. I do have to say that the cgi is really bad, and they might think it's clever to skip action scenes through his personalities.. but it seems they're still scared to full embrace the dark and gritty side. Maybe it was for the first episode, but don't make this a kids show please! He's fantastic as Steven/Marc, and Ethan Hawke was pretty great

So they're adding the ten rings to Shang Chi's story in the comics? I sometimes wonder what the state of Marvel comics would look like if they never tried to make the comics more like the movies. I feel like after Civil War and maybe even Secret Wars, that the comics have changed too much for me to continue with them. Elements from the movies just started rolling in, and even X-Men were affected in those few years when the Inhumans made them side characters. I feel like we'd have way more unique comics if the brand synergy was dropped, and they stopped incorporating movie elements into comics

@TheMapleSyrup - I hate to say it, but I agree. I get why, as the movies are hella popular. So they want to bank on that, but it sucks if you're a fan of original storytelling.

"Following the emergence of the legendary Ten Rings, we've learned that *their power rivals the Infinity Gems*"

Did... did someone at Marvel Comics forget how powerful the Infinity Gems are in the comics & thought of the dramatically nerfed movie version?
