Rank the Best Multi-Acted CBM Character Rendition (Marvel Edition)
I hope the title didn’t confuse you! What I’m asking here is for you to rank the adaptations of the CBM characters that have been played by multiple actors.
For those returning from the DC Edition, welcome back!
The system is pretty simple. I’ll provide the character and the actors whom have portrayed said character. All you have to do is rank each iteration (1 being the best and so on).
NOTE: I am updating the format for ease of ranking and scoring, but the system remains the same as the DC Edition.
Example:
_____________________________________________________________
What I’ll provide in the article
Spider-Man
-
Tobey Maguire
-
Andrew Garfield
-
Tom Holland
_____________________________________________________________
What you provide in your comment
Spider-Man
Tobey Maguire- 2
Andrew Garfield- 3
Tom Holland- 1
_____________________________________________________________
That’s it. Make sure to put all of your rankings in one comment. It would probably be easiest to copy and paste my template and then vote from there.
Now, let’s lay a few ground rules (some are for me, so don’t think I’m being a dick).
-
I’m going to put the characters in chronological order of their first film appearance, so don’t think I’m ranking them in the article. I’ll vote myself once the countdown is up. Speaking of, I'll keep it up for about 2 weeks, but I may end it sooner depending on the recency of the latest vote.
-
No ties. I don’t care if you like Garfield and Maguire the same, rank one higher. If you rank more than one the same, I will ask you for a recount. If you don't respond by the time I end the voting, I will have to either nullify your ranking on the character or make my best judgment if it seems your ranking was an accident.
-
Final ranking ties will come down to however I voted. If Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire both end up with 30 points, my ranking of Tom Holland as #1 and Tobey Maguire as #2 will be the final outcome.
-
I will NOT include live-action TV adaptations. This leads to one too many rankings, and I also don’t want to have to go through every TV show interpretation ever. Sorry, Daredevil and Punisher fans.
-
I will NOT include anyone before X-Men (2000). If you feel there is someone I should include, tag me. We’ll figure it out.
-
Similarly to the DC Edition, if I accidentally leave an actor out of contention, let me know, I will update the article, and I will notify whomever didn't catch it to re-cast their ranking for the character in question.
-
I am NOT including off-the-wall, animated, low budget, parody, or straight-to-DVD movies.
-
We are ranking the character as an entire interpretation. Consider alter-egos as part of the whole and vote accordingly.
-
I am only including important characters with notable roles. This classification could be argued, but I probably won’t change this. I really can’t scan every cast and feature every single character. For example, I was aware of Commissioner Gordon's role in TDK trilogy, but I was under the impression the other iterations of Gordon were far more limited, therefore I did not include the character for ranking. In contrast, I had included both Tom Hardy and Jeep Swenson as Bane, one of which having had a limited but somewhat memorable role, and yet we ended up with a unanimous ranking. This confirms my decision.
-
HOWEVER, if enough people address a missing character, let's say Bolivar Trask, I will include it. But I hope whom we have to rank is good enough.
-
The overall scoring system is pretty simple in that the actor-character combo with the lowest score among its counterparts after all votes are tallied will be ranked #1, the most points will be ranked last, and I hope you can fill yourselves in on the middle. So, if 5 people vote Tom Holland as the #1 Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield as #3, Holland will have 5 points and Garfield will have 15, Holland being the winner.
-
If you rank a character-actor but leave one off, the one you left off will be tallied as a 0. If you understand the math behind the tallying, that would put them higher even than if you had placed them first, so be aware.
-
Your vote is based completely on your opinion. If you put Garfield as #1 because you really love the one scene where he stalks Gwen and invades her personal privacy, that’s up to you.
-
You can provide reasoning as to why you voted the way you did, but you don’t have to.
-
I have no issues with disagreeing with someone else’s rankings, but I’ll report anyone getting too unfriendly about this. I want it to be fun, and I hope you do, too.
