The Comics Quickie
Jusme6 reviews RoTK: Son of Hulk #1 , Ultimate X #1, and Seig #2
Disclamor: I do not claim to be the a comicbook guru or anything. My purpose in creating this post is to keep the comicbook discussions going on this website. The person who used to post comicbook related material regularly was Sora who has left this site (we hope he comes back). Now with Sora gone I have taken it uppon myself to keep the comicbook posts going although now instead of discussing future comics, we will discuss the comics of the past week. Enjoy and PLEASE feel free to comment. I understand that I don’t read all the best comicbooks out there every week, so if you have something to add about a comic book that I didn’t review then feel free to share.
This week I read 3 comics:
Seig #2: I was very impressed with Seig #1 and this one was even more amazing. There is one page in this book that will make you go “HOLY @#$&!” Without giving too much away, there is a rescue, Steve Roggers rallies the troops and Jarvis gives us some foreshadowing of re-uniting the Holy Marvel Trinity (Cap, Thor, IM). This issue made me very anxious to get my hands on Seig #3 and Dark Avengers #14. I can hardly wait for either. This mega event is really shaping out to be something awesome. With all the hype building up to Seig I was very afraid this would be another Secret Invasion—lots of hype and lots of let down. Doesn’t seem to be true here. Final Note: Anyone who hates the Sentry or who thinks he's a pussy... please read this issue...
Ultimate X #1: I was pleasently surprised by this one. To say the least, I have not been a big fan of Jeff Loeb ever since he killed half of the Ultimate Marvel Universe for seemingly no reason. This is coupled with my distaste for his creation of the Red Hulk (also known as Rulk) and the Red She-Hulk who aslo seem completely unnessesary. However , Jeph’s issue of Ultimate X #1 made me strangly optamistic about him (as did last week’s FOTH: Red Hulk). This issue is really cool. We finally find out who the blond kid with wolverine claws is after months of teaser images. This character, named James, is also looking like he could shape into a very likable character as well. James seems like a nice guy with a real wild/dare-devilish side to him. Pluss, this story promisses to tell us how hope for mutants is born after Ultimatum. This first issue leads me to think this could be a great run, but appearances can be decieving, so we’ll see what happens.
Realm of the Kings-Son of Hulk: So here we have Hiro-Kala (the 2nd son of Hulk) travelling through space while searching for his brother to be unwillingly taken to the microverse plannet where Hulk had much previously married Jarella. This time, Jarella’s niece calls upon a sorcer to help her summon the Hulk to save their plannet that is being invaded by what appear to be giant house flies. Instead of the Hulk, Hiro-Kala appears and defeats the creatures by using the old power. It looks like Hiro-Kala is on a new quest for conquest, but I’m interested to see the differences in how Hiro-Kala (who is quickly becoming one of my favorate new Marvel characters) and the Hulk interact with the people of K’ai. I know this is probably just filler story for until Hiro-Kala joins his father and brother on Earth in World War Hulks, but it still looks pretty damn cool. I just think it’s really cool how a skinny little slaveboy in rags brough Galactus (no offense) to his knees.
So what did you think about this week in comics? What're you looking forward to?
