ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #2 Preview Reveals Peter Parker's New Costume (And It's Not What We Expected)

Marvel Comics has released a first look at next month's Ultimate Spider-Man #2, and while we get to see Peter Parker in action against Shocker, it's fair to say his new suit isn't what we expected...

Last week's Ultimate Spider-Man #1 got everyone talking thanks to the introduction of the Parker family - including a very much alive Uncle Ben - which showed fans just how extraordinarily different Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto's vision for Spider-Man storytelling is going to be.

Today, we have a sneak peek at the excitement that lies ahead in February Ultimate Spider-Man #2, but what is Peter Parker wearing?

The Ultimate Tony Stark/Iron Lad gifted the older Peter a radioactive spider and "picotech stealth suit" so he could finally fulfil his destiny. The latter looked an awful lot like a Symbiote, and as the wall-crawler heads into action in his all-black get-up, we'd say there's a very good chance that's exactly what it is.

Covers for the series continue to showcase the classic red and blue, though, so we're sure that's coming.

Marvel's new Ultimate Universe was shaped by the evil Reed Richards variant known as the Maker. Travelling back in time on a parallel Earth, the Maker prevented young Peter Parker from ever being bit by that fateful radioactive spider. Now, 20 years later, the Universe’s own Tony Stark has given Peter the chance to reclaim the heroic destiny that was stolen from him.

Taking on a great responsibility as Spider-Man, an adult Peter web-swings into the New York skies for the first time, ready to use his newfound abilities to help fix the world in any way he can, all while balancing his new role with being a devoted husband and loving father.

Peter won’t be the only Parker embarking on new adventures and taking down supervillains. Peter’s beloved uncle Ben is an award-winning journalist, and alongside his trusted partner J. Jonah Jameson, he’ll pursue the truth of their corrupt world and the unrest that’s stirring around every corner—starting with discovering the identity and motives of the newly emerged Green Goblin.

Back to Spidey, though, and he has his first supervillain in this newly released preview: Shocker!

"My love for this character is no secret to anyone," Checchetto says. "As soon as I received Jonathan Hickman’s plot of the series, I was immediately fascinated with how he managed to create something truly fresh and new, while keeping the spirit and essence of the web-slinger intact."

"I really loved the dialogue and got chills drawing these scenes. We have the opportunity and privilege to create our version of Spider-Man, and for me, to create the entire design of the series."

"Throughout our run, expect changes and both classic and new versions of characters," he continued. "One of the first you’ll meet is Shocker. He’s at the beginning of his career, so I wanted to create something different. Shocker wears a bomb squad suit to protect himself from the powers of his gloves, but still maintains some details of his classic costume."

Such a clickbait headline lol. Well done.

So far the new Ultimate universe is underwhelming to say the least.

supermanrex - 1/19/2024, 2:14 PM
@knomad - why? what do you want out of it
Origame
Origame - 1/19/2024, 2:23 PM
@supermanrex - this line is as bad as your defense of the terrible acting in echo.

No, it can't be that this amazon worker who never worked as an actor before can't act. It must purely be because of bad writing 🙄
HeeroG
HeeroG - 1/19/2024, 3:24 PM
@Origame - You must be joking. Alaqua Cox did amazing. She was expressive af in the role.
You must be blind.
And what all of this has to do with the subject of the New Ultimate Universe?
Origame
Origame - 1/19/2024, 3:34 PM
@HeeroG - the point is he can't just let someone not like something.

And alaqua? Expressive? She had literally one expression throughout both hawkeye and echo. She doesn't know how to act, because she's not an actor. Objectively speaking.

whoknows - 1/19/2024, 11:52 PM
@Origame - what do you like, because all I recall reading from you is complaint after complaint and you seem to be consistently negative, towards shows and users. Im actually interested, what do you like or find joy in? Comic-wise/movie-wise/whatever else-wise lol.

@whoknows - hi variant!

First of all, you clearly aren't seeing enough of my comments. I'm positive towards several users and several movies. I've praised godzilla minus one for example and have been positive towards the legendary movies. I've also been positive towards all things guardians, across the spiderverse, no way home, the batman, and more. User wise I get along very well against basically anyone who isn't trying to start sh!t. The people you're defending are known for starting sh!t.

Second, if I did do nothing but complaining

@Origame - god forbid people discuss what they like and dislike and learn about others.
This article and discussion had nothing to do with Echo, you were clearly just starting sh!t
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/21/2024, 11:09 AM
@HeeroG - it has nothing to do with this, Origame is just fixated on shitting on Echo and ignoring any and all evidence that she had more than a single expression
Origame
Origame - 1/21/2024, 11:13 AM
@Slotherin - 1) dude, this is supermanrex. He's not interested in learning.

2) this isn't about echo. My point is drawing on what he said about echo to prove who he is.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/21/2024, 12:04 PM
@Origame - in spite of our interactions, I don't dedicate much memory to forming attachments to who I think people are. As far as I can tell they're just inquiring and that's harmless.

Drawing on an argument outside this just tells me you're personalizing it and bringing in baggage.
Origame
Origame - 1/21/2024, 12:17 PM
@Slotherin - ...what I'm talking about didn't happen all that long ago. Plus, he does this regularly.

And again, it's just proving the kind of person this is. I'm not making an argument about echo.

Just admit you don't know this guy and move on.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/21/2024, 9:44 PM
@Origame - if it wasn't clear, I was already making a point that I don't know him...
"I don't dedicate much memory to forming attachments to who I think people are. As far as I can tell they're just inquiring and that's harmless."
See? That happened.

What would I be admitting in repeating a sentiment?
Origame
Origame - 1/22/2024, 5:06 AM
@Slotherin - you missed the "move on" part. You don't know the situation. Move on.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/22/2024, 6:58 PM
@Origame - guy, I'm not within your control
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/22/2024, 6:58 PM
@Origame - if I told you to move on would you do so just cuz I said so?
Pretty sure you wouldn't.
Origame
Origame - 1/22/2024, 9:02 PM
@Slotherin - Jesus christ dude. What's wrong with you? You don't know the situation yet you just insist on getting involved? And you stubbornly refuse to actually understand the situation and aren't moving on?

Get a life and move on.
whoknows
whoknows - 1/31/2024, 3:10 PM
@Origame - if you gonna take the who the hell cares approach why don’t you apply that to your complaining?
whoknows
whoknows - 1/31/2024, 3:11 PM
@Origame - and wait a second who was I defending? I didn’t mention any body else. I was only speaking about you.
Origame
Origame - 1/31/2024, 3:20 PM
@whoknows - because I care about my criticism. If you don't care for my criticism, don't comment. If you do care, also don't comment. Because anyone who's bothered by "negativity" on the internet deserves a healthy dose of the real world.
Origame
Origame - 1/31/2024, 3:21 PM
@whoknows - also, I was assuming you were defending supermanrex, the troll I was talking to. If not, then I gave you far too much credit. But then again, this is clearly an alt account for variant because he's the only other bottom sniffer who would care.
whoknows
whoknows - 2/5/2024, 1:07 PM
@Origame - no this is my only account, why you so mad and salty lol calm down dude

@Origame - “I gave you far too much credit.” Ahahahah you sound like a real [frick]ing nerd ahahahah
Origame
Origame - 2/5/2024, 2:41 PM
@whoknows - dude, I'm laughing at how pathetic you're being 🤣

And the alt account is because you act like variant, a known fanboy simp running around this site.
Origame
Origame - 2/5/2024, 2:42 PM
@whoknows - ...yes, I'm such a nerd for...using a common expression.

Also, this is a comic book movie fansite. Obviously I'm a nerd. So are you.

Nah, if you read issue 1, this is exactly what we expected it to look like. Or saw the preview covers of issue 2.

Read a comic!

First issue was meh. Art was good - I'd almost it rather be a JJJ and Uncle Ben Team-Up buddy romp than this supposed 'Ultimate' version.

It's an Elseworlds wrapped in a What If inside an Imaginary Story.
