This week's Ant-Man Annual #1 is hitting shelves to coincide with the release of the Marvel movie, and it features a pretty major reveal. Since Hank Pym's "death" in the Rage Of Ultron graphic novel, the Giant Man mantle had been left idle... but not any more. The story takes place across 2 different time periods: In the past a lad named Raz Malhotra aids Pym and Scott Lang in their mission to take down Egghead, them when we flash-forward to the future “All-New, All-Different” timeline we see Raz's partner give him a box containing the Giant Man costume.>

Of course, Raz might say no, but it certainly points to this character becoming the new Giant Man for Marvel's "All-New, All-Different" line this October. Best watch your back sunshine, things don't seem to go so well for the people that take up that mantle.

While this feels a lot more organic, it still sort of feels like more of the same. Marvel has been shoehorning diversity into its roster in very hamfisted way. Feels like the whole "Look how progressive I am, aren't I cool. Guys? Hey, guys! Aren't I cool?"

IDK, the whole thing seems weird. It isn't change, especially for such a non-iconic hero, but just like Marvel is trying too hard and it's getting cliche at this point. It's like when they kill off someone only to bring them back 10 issues later. Only this seems to be a conscious decision and not just lazy writing (or maybe it's both).

Seems like comics have been in a downward death spiral for a while now and these decisions are only helping alienate core fans and fail to attract/excite any new ones for anything longer than an issue or two.

What does Marvel have against Blonde superheroes. You will never see another new Blonde Superhero again. Disney is fazing them out.

As an Indian American, I want more Indian characters. But not as legacy characters, and hopefully some as straight as well. Both David Singh and this guy are gay Indians. When can I get a straight Indian, that's also not a diversity legacy character?
