In Secret Wars, the regular and Ultimate Marvel Universes collided and by the time all was said and done, the world which introduced a lot of very exciting alternate takes on fan-favourite characters like Captain America and Spider-Man was no more. Most fans felt like that was for the best as this reality went off the rails with Ultimatum but today's Spider-Men finale features its shocking return!

During the issue, it's revealed that the Ultimate Universe has been restored and Peter Parker is still its Spider-Man. The Ultimates, meanwhile, is made up of Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Giant-Man, Spider-Woman, and an Ultimate version of Riri Williams' Ironheart. Needless to say, the possibilities are endless and you can understand why writer Brian Michael Bendis decided to bring his baby back.

Alas, he's now heading to DC Comics but the story possibilities this opens the door to are endless. Back in the regular Marvel Universe, Miles Morales has decided to give up being Spider-Man but we'll no doubt see his return at some point in the near future. What do you think of this development?

The first Spider-Men is honestly great because of the context it was set it. Ultimate Peter Parker was dead, and Miles never really got to meet him - meeting 616 Parker was sort of that nice passing of the torch within the ultimate universe. Also 616 Peters interactions with Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane, etc... was all great and filled with heart. Not really a fan of the first two issues of Spider-Men II so I never really bothered to finish it. How'd it go?

Oh god.....

I never thought I'd say this, but just reboot Marvel. Reboot it all.

They've destroyed Marvel Comics. Its too far gone now. And with Disney getting the rights back to all the Fox film rights they wouldn't have to worry about shafting certain characters anymore.

Just give us back the Marvel Comics we all love. Not whatever this crap has been for the last few years.

I read it. I don't get it. The implication is the Ultimate Universe is back. But their so much inconsistency since I last saw it... Ultimate Thor's hammer isn't even in that universe anymore.

I am so glad bendis is leaving marvel because to be honest, I didn't like this final all that much

@TrueMarvel - It doesn't have to be consistent. Reed Richards and Franklin are the new gods of the Marvel multiverse. Since Secret War, they have been recreating reality as they see fit. So it's not a historic replica. It's Reed's idealized version of it... hence the good Victor von Doom.
