If ever there was a live-action movie, it should blend the original, beloved cartoon with the less popular 90's revival. It could be the Indiana Jones for this generation. (The original) Jonny Quest is an American science fiction/adventure about a boy who accompanies his father on extraordinary adventures. Inspired by radio serials and comics in the action-adventure genre, it featured more realistic art, characters, and stories than Hanna-Barbera's previous cartoon programs.
The animated James Bond-like action series focused on the globe-trotting adventures of scientist, Dr. Benton Quest; his 11-year-old son, Jonny; adopted, Indian son, Hadji; family bodyguard, Roger "Race" Bannon; and their pet, black-masked bulldog, Bandit (a more cartoonish character than the rest, meant for comic relief cast among an action-based ensemble) -I'd make Bandit a CGI dog that keeps his comical actions. This movie will appeal to children around the 12-year age range, although it will be geared for the upper-teen to college-aged males. The Quest team travels the globe studying scientific mysteries... Here's where the Real Adventures steps in... A revival of the 1960s Jonny Quest franchise, it features TEENAGE adventurers Jonny Quest, Hadji Singh, and Jessie Bannon as they accompanied Dr. Benton Quest and bodyguard Race Bannon to investigate strange phenomena, legends, and mysteries in exotic locales. —Race's daughter, Jessie Bannon, was introduced in order to create conflict with Jonny. She appeared in the telefilms as Race's daughter by Jezebel Jade. Action also takes place in the virtual realm of QuestWorld, a three-dimensional cyberspace domain rendered with computer animation. Creative directors centered [The Real Adventures] around Jonny; Seibert summarized the shift: We decided to make the show more Jonny-centric.
A How-To on characterizing the cast... Dr. Quest -An obsessive-compulsive phenomenologist who finds himself sought out by the government, from which he is retired, to investigate matters only he has the capabilities to resolve. His bitterness stems from the mission where they failed to save his wife, who's life was taken by Dr Zin.
Race Bannon -Recently, Race discovered he was a father. His daughter, Jessie, found him after her mother, Jezebel Jade, vanished and left her information on her father. Forced into retirement to raise his daughter, Bannon, the "cowboy philosopher", is called upon to aid Quest on his mission; the explanation given is that his unmatched tactical knowledge is vital. He tactical prowess is second only to his ex-CIA partner, whom Race believes dead.
Jonny Quest -A teen who despises his father for being too weak. He blames his father for his mother's murder. He must accompany his father. He befriends Race, whom he sees as a man of action, feeling that, if his father was this way, his mother would be alive.
Hadji Singh -Dr. Quest's apprentice, lacking his mentor's formal education but sharing his burning interest in archaeology, anthropology and the paranormal. A Sikh (hugely important to the scheme of things) and student yogi, he reacts to situations "from the philosophical point of view that everything is as it's supposed to be". The seventh son of a seventh son, Hadji seems to possess limited mystical powers. His wise insight differs greatly from Jonny's ignorant mind. Whether it's Jonny's immaturity, his sheltered niavity, or his American close-minded view, the 2are drastically different, making them the perfect team and better friends.
Jessie Bannon -Just as tough, smarter, and more thoughtful than Jonny, Race's daughter finds herself adjusting poorly to Race. She will spend time with Dr. Quest as Jonny does with Race, and is "more in tune with Hadji", alienating ( and creating a strong story arc for the titular character) Jonny. She is cool, independent, and a strong role model (rivaling Hunger Games).
-The villain of the 1st movie- Ezekiel Rage
-A former agent of the United States government with the codename "Raven". Argus Grimm, his true name, was Race Bannon 'a partner and mentor. On an assignment in Panagua, he was discovered, and fled with his wife and daughter by car. The United States declined to help him escape, and he crashed the car off a cliff, surviving with serious burns all over his body; his family was not so lucky. It was during this mission, his partner, Race, was bedding Jezebel Jade, and when it was up to him to save Grimm, he was drugged and left for dead in the swampy marshlands. Not only do we see him fight off swampy reptiles but, in the distance we see the hidden Easter egg of a Lizard-man. Bent on revenge against the government and a world perceived corrupt, he took on the name Ezekiel Rage and the costume of a Dia de los Muertos celebrator, complete with skeletal arm attachment and wide-brimmed hat. He kept a family album called the Book of Rage as his only possession. He used a combination of religious faith and old intelligence contacts and information to amass power for his apocalyptic plans. His goal in the movie is to retrieve locate, and subsequently abuse the power of, the Ring of Solomon. The grants the bearer the power to command demons, genies (or jinni), or to speak with animals. Thus, the combined efforts of the world's leading phenomenologist and the man who knows Rage better than any other are needed to stop the sociopath. Jonny saves the day. A sequel could introduce Questworld, leading to the cybervillain, Surd Surd
-Paralyzed years prior by Race Bannon's SWAT team, Surd would try to exact revenge through technology. Hacking Questworld, proving he is, at least, as smart as Quest, himself, Surd gains access to all things technical. Within the world itself, the once brutal agent, combines his intelligence with his bloodlust to give the team their greatest challenge. Jessie is given her day in the son, defeating Surd. I would also use the sequel to reveal that Jessie's mother is alive and has been working undercover to take down Surd. She dies at the end. Who is Jezebel Jade?
She is a "woman of mystery". In her first appearance Jezebel Jade arrives in the jungle on "business with Race, naturally". Soon, she identifies Race’s double as a fake with a single kiss. At the end of the show, she kisses the real Race and remarks, "There’s only one Race Bannon!" Jade shows a little more of her character and background in Terror Island. "I almost never kidnap my friends...for money, that is." She is seen traveling around Hong Kong searching for answers, getting tough when the situation calls for it. She ends up saving the day/everyone. She promises to overcharge for her assistance but in the end, her fondness for Race shows through when she willingly accepts his "down payment”. -she is a triple agent. Under the facade that she is working for the US, she holds court with foreign enemies. However, under the guise of a double agent, she is secretly spying on the enemies for the US. This is why she drugs Race many years ago. A good agents sacrifices the little things for the big picture. Grimm's death was the price she had to pay, not knowing that he would live a become Rage. This undercover work with Surd was the reason she vanished and turned Jessie over to Race. The finale stars Quest's greatest enemy. Dr Zin
-As the arch nemesis of Benton Quest, Zin took great pleasure in killing his wife. This is not Luthor to Superman or Batman to Joker. This rivalry is more Captain America/Red Skull, Wolverine/Sabretooth or putting it plainly, Mr Fantastic/ Dr Doom. Creating a cloaking devise, Zin creates hysteria with visions of (place your Easter eggs here) until the Quest team is once again called in. Once they discover who is behind it, Jonny's maturity and growth regresses and he is consumed with anger, so to is Dr Quest. We finally see how tough Dr Quest is. Zin haunts each team member with visions personal to them. Hadji, with his limited powers and zen thinking, saves the group. Well, how does that work for ya'? Can you think of any good Easter eggs to slip in there?

I so would enjoy a Jonny Quest movie. It had the feel of the old school Pulp Fiction stories. But sadly I wouldn't want it. The reason why I don't see Hollywood making it into a good movie. Just look at what happened to the Land of The Lost. Also John Carter was one of those Pulp Fiction movies and for whatever reason people didn't see it. Even though the movie was a fun film.

That being said a JQ film if done right could be really fun. It just would have to be a passion film by the script writers and director. The Goonies did well and if JQ had the feel of that movie it would be great. The question would be would it be a PG-13 movie or a PG movie? I personally think it would be PG-13 just because it dealt with some dark issues. This could be WB's Indiana Jones type movie series if done right. There is so much potential for a great movie but I'm just afraid they wouldn't do it Justice.

@MrSotoMan, I usually like my responses the best, but this time I think you had the perfect response to this article.

@ager, sorry that none of us seem to care about Johnny Quest, but frankly, none of us care about Johnny Quest (well, evidently 3 people kind of care about him.) No, that doesn't make us trolls, it just makes us honest. Now, if some of us started going on every article on this site and put a comment about how we don't care about JQ, then we would be trolls. But it doesn't make someone a troll to disagree with your article in the comments to your article.

I remember Johnny Quest being featured on the first episode of "Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law". I think it can work.

@Lhornbk
While @Soto's response made me laugh, I saw no reason for him to read my editorial if he didn't care about the subject. There are many subjects I don't care about or know about and therefor avoid the posts. It's troll like to click and respond, however funny the response was :)

Yours, unlike his are unoriginal and unfunny with the exception of that whole "well I guess 3 people care..." That was pretty funny. But u my friend troll when u don't like. There's a difference in not liking at being annoying. U must be seines little brother (or sister I dunno)

U wanna do it, be funny, like the comment about only 3. Otherwise it's obnoxious.

Let's first enjoy Jem and then see what comes along.

:P

I'm not sold on this.

I've only seen the new adventures and always thought it would've been able to work in live action. But like John Carter there isn't really a unique angle here nor a well known brand name.

I actually want a live action Jabberjaw movie with original music for the band. If you can make a live-action cgi raccoon shoot bazookas then you can make a shark play the drums.
