Let's begin with a recap: So if you've been following the latest "Something to Fear" arc, you know that Rick and crew have been stalked by a renegade group of survivors led by a nefarious Negan who up until this issue has been omnipresent. In issue # 98 Abraham was killed by Negan's crew and dragged back to the Survivor's camp in an effort to intimidate Rick and company. Their plan failed however and Negan's forces were killed and the the few lone survivors were driven back. In the final few panels of issue #99, we see Rick depart for the Survivor's camp via a van with some of the major names of the series; most notably Michone, Carl, Sophia, Maggie and Glenn. We come to find that a scout crew from Negan's camp have been monitoring their departure from atop of a buildings outside of Rick's camp.
Issue 100 picks up just where we left off. As they begin their journey, Negan's scouts report back to their camp that they'll be attack "at dawn". As we turn the page, we find Rick seemingly lost on their way to the Survivors' camp as dusk sets in. At the recommendation of the group, they decide to set up camp for the night - big mistake.
After Michone clears the area of walkers and completes her first watch, Rick takes over only to get snuck up on from behind by Negan and his entire band of followers. The following sequence of panels that follow in my opinion have been the best thing in the series since the Governor arc. Negan gives Rick the speech about how he'll give him half of everything or he'll kill everyone in his camp - and do horrible things to them prior to doing so. All this builds to Negan selecting a victim as an example and penance for the damage Rick caused by killing his men.
And the Negan picks Glen.. And his death may be the most gruesome way we've seen in the series yet. Negan repeatedly beats Glen's head in with a baseball bat with barbed wire on it named "Lucille".... My jaw was on the floor.
Then Negan leaves with his crew stating that, "They'll be back in a week for their first offering" (half of everything they have), but not before Rick says, "I'm going to kill you. Not today. Not tomorrow. But I will kill you."
Seriously one of the best TWD issues in a very long time and sets up what will promise to be a very exciting conclusion to "Something to Fear".
10/10
