Holy hell people did not like my opinions on Spider-Man. Oh well, why don't we discuss something different? Like the insane-ninja version of Spider-Man, and who should direct his next film in the likely event of a sequel (should the director of the first installment leave). So with that said, here is my top three directors to do a Deadpool movie.
3. Kevin Smith
Silent Bob, Fatman and the creator of the cult film Clerks is certainly a great pick for the Deadpool movie. His writing is nerdy, clever and most importantly - R-rated. No stranger to writing Superheroes, Smith has penned Batman, Green Arrow and DareDevil. His crude jokes mixed with his clever dialog would make for an awesome Deadpool movie. Maybe he'd need help with the action? But I can't get over the Idea of Deadpool teaming up with Bluntman and Chronic.
2. Edgar Wright
With Ant-Man taken from him (I'm still disappointed) Edgar Wright needs to be given another comic book movie. Scott Pilgrim was amazing, and the Cornetto Trilogy is a rare trinity of awesomeness. Imagine Edgar Wright in control of this property? Deadpool knows he's in a comic, making for a very entertaining amount of fourth wall breaks.
Imagine him doing this in the movie? Making fun of the style of the movie, maybe teasing Scott Pilgrim's box office earnings. Too Meta? Edgar has a chance to poke fun at himself while still having a great time making an awesome movie around a fantastic character.
*Drumroll*
1. Quenten Tarantino
The finest film-maker with a feverish foot-fetish (that was a mouthful), unless you count the monolog in Kill Bill Vol 2 or his small guest directed scene in Sin City, Quentin has very little experience in Comic Book Movies. So, arguably the best place to start would be with a character who is offensive, clever and funny. Much like Django was for Westerns or Pulp Fiction was for Crime films, with a director like Tartintino at the helm, Deadpool could be one of the best of the genre. While he is on top of my list, he is probably the least likely due to his business with The Hateful Eight and other independent projects.
So thats my thoughts on who could direct a Deadpool movie. What are your thoughts? Leave them in the Comments below!
