CONSTANTINE: J.J. Abrams' Reboot Is Still Moving Ahead Despite Warner Bros. Discovery's Recent Cuts

So far, J.J. Abrams' partnership with Warner Bros. has delivered little in the way of results, though a number of projects - including some DC adaptations - remain in various stages of development.

While we've yet to see that rumoured Justice League Dark slate take shape, Deadline reports that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is a "fan" of Abrams' work. The trade notes that Angela Robinson's Madame X remains in development for HBO Max, though whether it will ultimately come to fruition is another matter altogether.

However, the good news is that the small screen Constantine reboot is said to be "on solid ground and moving along." The project will feature a diverse take on the title character, with British writer Guy Bolton also dreaming up a fresh approach to JC that's more in line with the Hellblazer comics.

On the feature side, there's no word on what's happening with Ta-Nehisi Coates' Superman movie featuring a Black Man of Steel or Emerald Fennell's Zatanna

Neither has been cancelled yet, though, so that's something!

Whether they'll factor into Warner Bros.' 10-year plan for the DC Extended Universe remains to be seen, but slowing things down is the fact that Abrams remains actively involved in the next Cloverfield and Star Trek movies at Paramount Pictures. There was a time it looked like Abrams and Bad Robot would be a driving force behind the DCEU, but we're not sure that's still the case.

The Flash was supposed to reboot this shared world, but with star Ezra Miller now facing felony charges for burglary, how feasible it is to release the movie with the actor front and centre is hard to say.

We also don't know what that 10-year plan is going to look like, and whether we can look forward to the creation of a cohesive DC Universe more in line with the MCU.

Stay tuned for updates.
